Does it really matter who a player previously played for if he " delivers " ?

It happens Liverpool / Everton , ManU / Man City et al ( even the OF ) and why not ?

From when it was announced that he was leaving Motherwell: -

McCall said: "Tim Clancy has told me he will be moving on. He has been offered a far better deal from elsewhere."We took him from Kilmarnock reserves but in fairness to Tim it has worked both ways. We gave him a platform but he did really well for us."If it were £100-a-week I think he would have stayed because he has enjoyed himself but if he can substantially increase his money then I don't blame the lad at all."

So we have seriously outbid the team that finished 3rd in the SPL last season for their player. Great news

Remember he was the guy that tried to run back onto the line for Garry O's free kick near the end of the season thus putting off the goalie. Maybe he had already agreed to join us at that time. :greengrin

So we have seriously outbid the team that finished 3rd in the SPL last season for their player. Great news

Makes you wonder why other teams can run their squads on much less money than us and still perform. We constantly hear how Hibs offer salaries that are better than most other SPL clubs and yet our bunch continually under-perform (except when they're on the ran-dan up town after a game, of course).

I hope that Pat can live up to his promise to bring in guys who want to play and have professional attitudes and who are not seeing this as a well-paid hobby but as their livelihoods!

Welcome Tim. And keep going, Pat, and fighting to change the whole ethos at the club and bring back our self-respect.

I am now getting excited at the prospect of other good quality signings coming in, Clancy should be a good solid signing, nothing extravagant, but a sound and able football player who will prosper at Hibs. Hopefully we can follow it up with McPake and we will at least have a decent looking back line.

Next is the midfield, hopefully we can get a handful of good players in as well. In Pat I trust.

1st signing for the new season

It's not good enough for me. After last season we need to raise the bar. I watched Portugal tonight, ronaldo was outstanding. If we want to realise the potential of this club it's that calibre of player we need to be looking at. A Motherwell player here and a gambling ex hearts player there ain't gonna cut it.

I hope we dont sign Kyle I would hate to have to watch that lumbering donkey in a hibs shirt. If Kyle plays then it will be the long punt up the park missing out the midfield.

..........to be finished with a powerful header into the back of the net, now i dont know if KK will end up here but i do know a fit KK would be an asset to the team. Now here is a thing , do you think we played long ball when mixu and then brewster were here?

It's not good enough for me. After last season we need to raise the bar. I watched Portugal tonight, ronaldo was outstanding. If we want to realise the potential of this club it's that calibre of player we need to be looking at. A Motherwell player here and a gambling ex hearts player there ain't gonna cut it.

Ach they ruin everything when they re-make this stuff, they made a right mess of Scooby Doo as well.

Any word on the signing of Cairney?

I would expect it to be announced this week, mind you I expected it before this week.

I hope he does well for us. Welcome aboard buddy. Not sure what that cack he's wearing in the official website news but I hope it is a training top and not the new home top? My wife has put the fear of god into me by stating she thinks the top Clancy is wearing is dark green.... :O
