Evening all,

For around a year now, my little niece has been receiving treatment for cancer. Last week her parents were told that they are now having to travel to The States for three months, so the wee one can have more specialist treatment on her cancer.

From what I understand, the NHS will be paying for her and her family to travel over and pay for accomodation and treatments, but me and the rest of our family want to try and do some fundraising, ideally by setting up a web page so that others can make a donation to help us raise some extra funds.

Does anyone know of any webites I can do this through?
I checked out justgiving as I've made donations on this before but it seems that they only allow registered charities to use their site.

Any suggestions greatly received!

Thanks.

Try MacMillan Cancer Support in the first instance.

There is a site called 'just giving' which the wee lassie Martha has used to raise £82,000 to support Mary's Meals when her target was £7,000!

All the best!

thanks for that.

My brother in law's mate has managed to organise a page via just giving. Once they get the nod from the hospital that they are definitly going to America it will be going live.

Thanks again.

the first page with info is available through facebook at www.facebook.com/romachooseslife
this was something my sister in law did to let people get a bit informed with what was going on.

the actual donations page is going live on the 6th of July.

I'm not sure which fundraising site has been used but I don't think its just giving.

thank you very much indeed!

E-mail tonight says over £4,300 has been raised so far!

Fantastic, but more Hibs.net donations can make a huge difference!

Open those wallets!

(With apologies to Sexton, whose thread this is) thought it worthwhile to keep this fund-raising at the top of the agenda, by posting this update:

Fantastic to get to this level - well done to all - hope the wee girl is doing OK through the chemo!

Thanks for postibg this.

Roma has had her first week of her new chemo sessions. She's back home for now, but is due back up the sick kids on Tuesday as they are keeping an eye on her weight levels with a view to inserting a wee feeding tube.

Sorry i've not been on for a while to update everyone, and thank you very much indeed to all that have made a donation.
