A shopkeeper?
It says it happened in Clovenstone park and not a shop. Why would a 72 year old man be carrying £11,000? It just screams ridiculous, because that is what this is. I hope the wee rat gets caught anyway.

Maybe feared to leave it in the house when its empty. :dunno:
Does it matter how much the person was carrying, still no need to get mugged at that age no matter where you are in the city.

What is a bank account for?
I have already said I hope he gets caught, I'm not blaming the guy who got mugged either, it is just common sense to never carry that amount of money on you at any time.

There is a shop in Clovenstone Park, run by an Asian who could easily be 72 years old. It's quite possible he was mugged for the shop takings.

I don't know the shop but I'd imagine £11k would be 2 or 3 weeks takings of your typical grocery shop.

Well, I suppose if he'd KNOWN he was going to be mugged he could have cleared all his bank accounts and made it worth N0-Medals Minor's while?
Why the man had the money on him is really immaterial.
He shouldn't be preyed on by thugs like Mackay.
(THAT apple didn't fall far from the tree, did it? Violent, aggressive and racist - just like his old man.)

How does he get the money from the shop to a bank?
If he is an Asian shopkeeper, the chances are he will work long hours and won't get the chance to get to a bank very often. I have a few clients who are in that same boat.

This is sounding a wee bit like the argument "If the lassie didn't want to be raped, why was she dressed like that?"
The "she was just asking for it" defence.
The victim should not be made to feel responsible for what the criminal does to him or her.
The responsibility and fault lie entirely with Mackay here, not with the shopkeeper.

This throws a bit more light on the alleged offence.

And for what it may be worth, whether or not the guy was carrying the crown jewels in an environmentally friendly carrier bag fi Lidls makes no odds, he didn't deserve any negative consequence.

Sorry but when did I even say anything about it being his fault? All I said was that it is common sense to not carry £11,000 on you in case something like this happens. The guy who was mugged clearly doesn't deserve to be mugged, all I am questioning is why he is carrying such a large amount in the first place, especially as he is on his own. Most places have a rule where if you are going to the bank to get £1000 in change you need to take another member of staff with you for safety reasons.

It's a small shop. The chances are he's the only person in the place.

Yes.
We can't always organise circumsatnces the way we want them to be. It's not a criminal offence to be less than 100% streetwise less than 100% of the time.

Not surprised in the slightest... Had so much potential to be a decent player when he was younger then just turned into a total c*ckend like his dad! Fat Junkie Ned!
