View Full Version : NHC What are your favourite goals?
Not necessarily hibs goals but any goals. Ones you think are special and stick in the memory.
Kaka (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUPkxJOMfdU) and Ronaldinho (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E97zHKmnl6A&feature=related) are the ones that stand out for me. The more I look at them the better they become.
It's not the best quality video but the that's just a reminder if you actually saw it happen on telly at the time. I'm still looking for Jean Pierre Papins goal for France against Sweden in 1992! Excellent finish!
Some light relief in the close season so lets see some great goals...and some hidden belters.

Another one that gets better the more you look at it!

Cantona v Sunderland around 1996/7
Zidane v Leverkussen 2002
Rooney v Newcastle 2006ish
Messi v Villareal 2006 or 07 I think. Better than Maradonnad v England.

Tied in with one of my favourite games ever,
Paco Luna's second against AEK Athens at ER
The place was rocking, I think several people were in danger of being seriously injured in the old East Stand when the second went in, indeed my mate suffered a cracked rib as we ended up about 10 rows further forward than where started:greengrin
Even my wife who was in my flat at 62 Albion Road at the time recall's the goal, she said she was quietly watching TV when all of a sudden the roar went up and she thought the building was about to come down as the whole place shook:cb
If only hed made that header in the last minute as well
Great goal, great night though:cb

Any that resulted in a win against Hearts, particularly enjoyed Garry's against them in the 'we are unbeatable match'
The best live goal I've ever seen live was scored by Darren Jackson in a Scotland B international against Northern Ireland at ER. He controlled a throw in from the old stand side, controlled it with his chest, flicked it over his own head and the defender behind him, turned and hit is first time on the volley with his left foot and flew into the opposite top corner of the goal. From the throw the ball never even touched the ground and sadly there wasn't even a camera to see it.

I could be wrong here, but I think - THINK - it was Patrick Kluivert

Rivaldo chested it and overhead kicked it, think it was his 3rd in a game that let Barca qualify for the champions league
Mendieta when at Valencia scored a rocket of a volley against Barca from a corner that was hit to the edge of the box
Figo against England absolute bomb
Van Der Vart for Ajax scored a scorpion kick like goal, was immense

Back in the mid 90's, you'd be hard pushed to find a more complete striker IMO. Gets forgotten these days, but he was awesome.

Still, not a patch on my "Yeboah" in the playground the week after the Pretender to my throne had slapped his home for Leeds. That was just a warm-up for le piece de resistance on the Parsons Green top pitch :agree:

I remember that goal. It was a stunner! I also remember that Steven Tweed scored, and I had (for a laugh and coz he was a Hibs player) been cheering every touch he made during the whole game and singing his name, along with my friends. When he scored, me and my pals went mental and someone threw a toilet roll at us - coz I think we had been annoying the hell out of the other fans - and it hit me on the head. Tweedie gave us a wee thumbs up as he left the pitch, which got him another huge cheer. :greengrin

Take your pick of some of these beauties, the sheer confusion Zidane creates in the box for the one against Deportivo steals it for me, with the goal against leverkuson in the final a close second.

Rodney Marsh lands in the States, back in the day, to join his new MLS team (Tampa, perhaps?).
Reporter: Rodney, you've been described as the White Pele. Is that true?
RM: Nah, not quite. Pele's the Black Rodney Marsh.
Quality!
Gareth Evans last minute winner, 4-3 v St Mirren at ER mid 80s. 3-1 down with 20 mins to go.
