Russia 2 0 up, they look not a bad side, missed a few chances before taking the lead.

Cassano mi**** the ball from 3 yds out, about 30 secs later Kerzhakov scored. Big moment of the game so far.

Not sure who got the 2nd!

SKY - 993 on now.

Watching the England players arrive at Wembley, what a bunch of posers. Is it really all about who's got the best Dr. Dre headphones and/or bling? Is it that bad on their coach that they cant share a chat?

Live on BBC ni at 7pm. Should be decent on channel 992 sky and available through freeview. Reckon huntelaar is more important than rvp imo.

Just watching this cos there's sod all else on, have to say what a great crowd but the team are poor, the pitch is now littered with paper planes (how childish they are) some hefty tackles going in as well especially from Gerrard and Parker

Woeful aren't they :bitchy:

They are a young side to be fair but their play in the final third is truly terrible, shooting is so bad it's laughable, I don't anticipate much problems from them.

When is the last time an international team got hit for 10. If it wasn't for their keeper they'd be about 7/8 down already and Huntelaar and van der Vart have still to come on.

McPake playing very well for Northern Ireland v Holland!

Despite being 5-0 down he has been one of the best players on the park, making storming challenges and important blocks. Could be 6 or 7 without him.. This isn't the kind of publicity we need at the moment:worried:

I'm not so sure. It consolidates the opinions we have of him and it shouldn't change his 'desire' to be at Hibs. If that desire isn't genuine or if Petrie drags his heels, he's history.

I'd like to add though, that any defender playing with Roy Carroll behind him must be a nervous wreck!

6-0. Vlaar got a free run at a corner and beat McPake at near post to the header.

He's done okay, but I don't think Ajax will be rushing to find Allan Preston's phone number.

Vlaar wasn't McPake's man to mark in the first place. Regardless, it's not teams like Ajax that we have to worry about

Watching McPake tonight was typical of him playing for Hibs. He does put his body on the line, and the amount of last ditch tackles and blocks he puts in are tremendous.

The problem with that though, is the guys around him and in front of him. He needs to be doing one or two of them each game, not 10 or 12.

Owing to an Italian heritage on mother's side, Italy are my team when Scotland bow out of each and every tournament (Potter.com/jamboflange)

So I'm rooting for them, but seriously, over-reliance on maverick talents like Cassano and Balotelli is a doomed masterplan, with very little back up if they get red cards or a petted lip (both are realistic possibilities).

Potentially embarrassing 3 games ahead..

As Sky TV's lightweight co-commentator Davie Provan is prone to saying..."it could go either way" (cheers Davie).
Cassano and Baloteli both started against Russia, the latter in particular looked quite sharp, but when Pirlo was finding the gaps behind the defence, one or other of them found themselves offside. Given the quality of service; that's a worry.
Chiellini was a massive influence in Juventus' unbeaten league campaign and I think he can help stop the bleeding at the back, but other than Pirlo, I can't see much inspiration in midfield and up front.
However, I think that there are weaknesses in all the major teams in this tournament and with a bit of luck, Italy may do better than anticipated.
