Any fellow .netters work in recruitment, in particular dealing with financial services? Or has anyone else had a good experience with one in the past that they would recommend I use?
Not normally the biggest fan of recruitment companies, always felt in the past all they care about is filling a role rather than fining you a position. Hopefully things might have changed since the last time I used one.

I've used recruitment consultants from both sides of the fence. They're fine IMHO as long as you realise that their job is to make money for their agency and filter the jobs (or applicants) that they throw at you accordingly.

Yes I see them as an efficient way for you to find a job - really cant be assed spending ages applying for jobs so recruitment constultant can do it for me. OK they take a pretty impressive fee / percentage but you don't need to take the job.
Was working temp for a while and they took 1/3 of the money the company was giving to them which is quite a lot imo, but liked the job so fair do's!
Only thing tha gets me is that I'm not sure if they're more bothered about placing me or just getting leads to chase up by asking what other jobs I have applied for...
You looking in Edinburgh?

If you're a decent worker then you shouldn't have any problem with an agency, the more you work and the better at the job you become (and gain fees for the agency) the better position you're in and the more earning potential you can command. 30% is the going rate but if you make their life easier then the rewards go up.
