Question came up in pub last night, what connection do Hibs have with City e.g. shared players etc?

Somebody mentioned a black goalkeeper but I couldn't think who!
:dunno:

One of our most famous sons, Bobby Johnstone played for City. Dave Ewing also played for City prior to managing Hibs.

Citys assistant manager David Platt played for Hibs as a youngster when then manager Alex Miller couldn't fail to spot his worth and ensure the deal was financed. I think that's how it happened anyway........

Did Aston Villa not offer Crewe 250k as opposed to Hibs 225k?

You can't blame Miller.

The board would not come up with the asking price.

Miller thought he had a deal, but Villa topped it. He bid again, was outbid again and we withdrew.

The money was subsequently spent on Gareth Evans.
