Actually quite disappointed that this seems to be quite far down the pecking order in terms of news, a world champion swimmer dies at the age of 26 and its barely covered by the news. In fact it wasnt even on the front page of the BBC sport website, had to actually hunt for it. If it was a 26 year old world cup winner no doubt it would be all over the front and back pages. Shocking to hear none the less, another worrying example of extremely fit athletes dieing young. R.I.P

I was speaking to Hamish McAlpine last night about this very topic, and I suggested if modern footballers/athletes were taking their fitness too far. He was not convinced and thought the media coverage simply magnified the news/awareness etc. Have to say I don't agree with that. I don't recall the papers ever carrying such stories and they would have. Sad.
