With the 19th of May hopefully going to be the best game of football all us Hibees have seen, what is the best football match you have ever seen to date?

(hoping this is not a thread that comes up too often!)

I was too drunk to remember the CIS Final game itself, a bit too young to properly remember all of the 6-2 game so I'd go with the CIS semi against Rangers which was pretty special. I'd been looking forward to it for weeks, travelled through in a car full of smug Huns, the small group of Hibs fans was probably the most passionate support I've been in and it was when Riordan, Brown, O'Connor, Thomson etc were just beginning to properly break through, it was unbelievable that they got the result. Amazing night, won't ever forget that penalty shoot out.

Best game I've ever been to was when we beat the "unbeatables" at Easter Rd. The old east stand was rocking that day.

More of the same on the 19th please.

Beating Rangers 2-1 at ER when Souness was sent off in his first game for them. What an atmosphere that day.

There've been so many, but, I think I would go along with this. A game that had everything!

I loved the 0-3 millenium Derby.

We absolutely ripped Hearts apart that night.

Best game I've been at for sheer quality was Barca 5 Madrdi 0 a couple of year ago, a privilege to watch.

Honourable mentions for the 6-2, Hibs 5 Dundee 1, Hibs 1 Hearts 0 with the Brebner sending off and Newcastle 8 Sheff Weds 0.

But the best was the 0-3 Rangers Cup win,.O.Connor, Sproule, Killen, 7500 away fansbouncing along to wearrapeepple. Fabulous.

Obviously the cup final wins and memorable Derby wins (my favourite being the millenium derby).

Less obviously Hibs v Airdrie playoff at Clyde total nerve shredding emotion and ultimately elation, lots of games with the Mowbray team, LC semi v Rangers in 91, Scotland v France Hampden Mo Johnston 2 goals in the pissing rain and Scotland v Sweden at Italia 90.

2-1 at tynie. Kano and Archie did the damage. So many years we got nout against them, then we do it with 10 men. What a bounce when Archie scored. Remember Calum Milne up on the fence at the end. Was the 1st time I saw the Hibs win at tynie!!!

That was a good one to be at, but, IIRC was it not the Hunter 1 0 game that broke that run?

Favourite to be at has to be teh Killie final. Had been waiting too long for that.

3-0 at Ibrox (Gaz, Ivan, Killen), The AEK game and 4-1 away at Dundee Utd on boxing day were very fun to be at! So was the 6-2 game, but I sort of expected to hump them that day anyway.

The 7-0 game. There was no segregation then. I was beside a jambo in a maroon suit who wished me a happy new year and went on to tell me that Hibs where going to get cuffed. Think he left quite early. The other was the AEK Athens game at Easter Road. The atmosphere was electric..

The Hunter 1-0 win did break the long run and was in 1995.

The other match referred to would have been in the late 1980s.

Strangely enough, beating Motherwell at Fir Park 6-1 (I think).

I've never seen a team so dominant in a game, even though the opposition were actually playing quite well themselves.

Thrashing Naples and Dino Zoff 5-0 at Easter Road in 1967. I was just a wee laddie at the time but what a night.

Bobby Duncan scored with a thunderbolt of a shot which saw the ball race up Easter Road finally landing at the top of the walk and demolishing the buildings which now house the St James' Centre. :agree:

Was there when Geebsy scored at Tynie. They opened one of there stands for the first time that day. If we hadn't won they would have racked up 23 games against us without losing. Great day but I still think the match in 87 or 88 when Kano and Archie scored was so much better. Huge Hibs support in the old terracing. Gordon Rae was sent of after 10 minutes. Brilliant day!! GGTTH!!!!

1) Hearts 0 Hibs 7
2) Hibs 3 Barcelona 2
3) Hibs 2 Real Madrid 0
3) Hibs 5 Napoli 0
4) Hibs 2 Celtic 1
5) Hibs 6 Hearts 2
6) Hearts 0 Hibs 3
7) Rangers 0 Hibs 3
8) Hibs 2 Dunfermline 0
9) Hibs 5 Kilmarnock 1

That's just for starters off the top of my head but No 1 is abune them a'.

Not a bad little list! I've been a very luck boy.

On the other side saw a 5-1 derby defeat on New Years Day 1960. I think that was the low point.

Hibs 4 Celtic 3 @ ER with Eddie May scoring the winner was outstanding too, missed the pen win v them in the same season, Pearse O'Leary (sp?) anyone? IIRC we played them again on the Saturday after the pens win in the league at ER and got pumped 0 5!

In no particular order: 6-2 against them, Athens (home leg), CIS Cup Final, 2-1 v Rangers (Laudrup misses penalty and retake & I win my first ever bookies bet put on for me by my late grandad as I was a young 'un), 5-0 v Dundee Utd at ER & finally, Hibs 1- 0 Rangers (Keith Wright scores - one of my earliest Hibs memories)... Ah, sweet memories indeed! :-)

Favourite game is definitely the Germany Italy WC semi when Grosso scored in the last minutes of ET. Referee was brilliant letting some pretty hefty tackles go and the players just accepted it, 2 teams going hell for leather at each other for 120 minutes, brilliant game.

Hibs game is probably the unbeatable derby, never experienced anything like the pandemonium when O'Connor slammed the ball home.:greengrin

Although i had a tenner ew on Scott Brown @ about 12 or 14/1 for the first goal which helped a bit!
