Admins feel free to merge with other ticket threads, but I thought this may be a separate topic for discussion

A Season Ticket holder has put their 2nd ticket up for auction on Ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HIBS-VS-HEARTS-SCOTTISH-CUP-FINAL-TICKET-19-05-12-/261008413297?pt=UK_Tickets_Tickets_LE&hash=item3cc5505271

Maybe they don't know any Hibbies who might appreciate a ticket at face value

:grr:

All tickets should be going at face value, not people trying to make a profit.

Hope the seller is proud of themselves..... I can see a few silly bids though.

I know the seller from a while back. An old face and a pure coincidence. What a stupid thing to do and pretty shameless.

I'll name and shame her if she doesn't pull it.

I'd rather an independent Hibby made a bit of cash than some 'hospitality' company...

Have a feeling that by buying a debenture type thing none of my money will go to Hibs...but that's what it looks like I'll be getting at the moment

I'm pretty sure the club will not accept this and do something about it. They have the right and the power to request the removal of the ticket. The seller might well find themselves in soapy bubble too...

So that's where you go to auction off tickets for higher than their face value. Tickets that you haven't even got yet.

Cheers.

Well, I hope the club do something about it. I am on the point of giving up the idea of coming over from Brazil for the final, due to not being guaranteed a ticket, and I am one of many many die-hard overseas fans who either won't be coming back coz we can't get a ticket, or are coming back anyway even without the guarantee of one.

There's also plenty of folks in Scotland/UK who, despite not being season ticket holders, for one reason or another, could lay bloody good claims to being deserving of a ticket for the final and here's some trollop trying to pocket a bit of cash to the highest bidder for one. I hope she gets exactly what she deserves...

I don't but if you want to go to see a premiership club in London it happens all the time...

I would never sell a Hibs ticket for a profit but I'm not that offended by it either

can of worms I know but I dont really have a problem with this TBH. I know football itself is different to say a concert or show but this happens all the time. Now I have no extra ticket by the way but have done this in the passed for a comedy ticket as i only needed two but got priority and took as much as I could (this then funded my tickets). I am sure there was people who missed out and morally I suppose is wrong but companies make extra money all the time on tickets (hibs hearts only got 40K where is the other 12K sure some of them go to non derby fans)

is this worse than a season ticket holder taking his 2 tickets and taking a wife/mate who has never been to a game ?

Just my opinion of course:stirrer:

Disgraceful!!!!!! If you don't need the ticket, simple, don't take two from the allocation. I'm entitled to six by using me and my two boys season tickets and that's me and my mates who go every week home and away covered. The thought of cashing in whilst so many good hibs fans could have the ticket disgusts me. Defo no place for this and whilst I know it's the way of the world now to cash in on anything you can, not this. That ticket should be left for public sale or given at face value. She should offer it to someone on hibs.net. I really hope she re-thinks.

I would alert someone at Hibs to who she is, as she is entitled to 2 there is probably not much they can do however I would still bring it to their attention. As you say it's pretty shameless and if one person scores out it then others are bound to follow.

I will refrain from commenting on this aspect! We all knew that there was a certainty that this would happen. Does this person not read the papers or indeed this forum? There are thousands of supporters desperate to get their hands on tickets! Im all for free enterprise and all that but this is the Scottish Cup Final with only 20k tickets and this person is selling this ticket on a public media board and anyone and i mean ANYONE can bid and get the ticket EVEN a Jambo!!!!
Crowd control is going to be difficult enough at this game. Emotions will run very high! I for one do not want one of them beside me!
Look after our own, there are many disappointed people who would pay over the odds for a ticket and they are HIBEES supporters.
Doesnt she realise that the club can trace her, her season and put a stop on her getting this ticket for sale on ebay!!

This really takes the crap out of the HIBERNIAN family ethic!
Get a grip and pull this advert if you dont need the ticket get on here and offer a real supporter a chance to be part of history.
So disappointed!!!!

Check out some of the other threads since Friday lunchtime and you'll see that a number of others are planning this kind of thing and are also suggesting that they will buy ST's to which they are not entitled to get a ticket for the Final to which they would not be entitled to!

This isnt a ticket for Wimbledon or something like that. This is a ticket for a once in a lifetime opportunity which may never come around again.

I would rather give a spare ticket away to a Hibby than take the chance of a Yam getting their hands on it, even for a thousand quid.

This is disgusting. I hope the club catch this person out and they get no tickets. This could go to anyone who doesn't support Hibs while there are thousands of Hibby's going to miss out. If she doesn't need the 2nd ticket for a hibby friend, here's an idea... don't get one! Leave it for someone else, the more folk who do that, the more chance there is of a general sale! :tsk tsk:

:grr:

The potential for a Hearts fan buying one of these has changed my mind on this

My position was that if someone can pay over 400 for a season ticket then has a spare that they are happy to sell to me for 60 quid I don't mind at all

But when it's an open auction site that could be used by a Hearts fan then that's no good

Shocked and angry when I started reading this thread. If the advert has been pulled then good, hopefully the person has come to their senses.

Us season ticket holders have been rightfully been afforded priority, but let's think of the greater Hibs community. You have the ability to take up a second ticket because you've bought for next season - then make sure you get it into the hands of a deserving Hibee or don't take it at all and make the public sale pot as big as possible.

A Google enquiry reveals the professional touts are already offering to buy & sell tickets for 19/5.

No doubt this will offer a more discreet, though less profitable, route for those wishing to make a fast buck.

It's a matter of choice at the end of the day, if the Club are unable to identify the profiteers and take appropriate action.

Personally I value friendship above profit and when I get my spare, it will be going at face value to a mate who cannot attend ER regularly, but made the effort to go to the semi.

The thing is, as hearts allocation is sold out, any tickets like these will be up for grabs from both sets of fans.

Me and my mate discussed the other day that if we could only get tickets for the yams end, we would. So when we win and their end is empty, we'll stand bang in the middle scarfes flying singing SOL!!

It's been pulled which is the important thing. Nice lassie as well, maybe she had one or two too many and thought it was a good idea. However, she's been mixing with jambos so maybe they've had a hand in this.

Thing is because folk are gettting the chance of buying an additional ticket they can't use, some of them will se the £ signs and hawk them off to the highest bidder.

It would've been much less likely to happen if ST holders only got to buy the one ticket they need.

I think if you know enough Hibs fans and maybe prepared to pay a bit extra if need be everyone who really wants one will get one...I hope so anyway...

One of my pals says he get me one, but just one, from some guy in Glasgow and it's over the odds as it's a debenture I think but I'm not sure...

Having recently purchased my S/T for next season, [prior to semi-final result], I appear to fall into the category to get a ticket, however find that I am unable to make the final. [Holiday booked ages ago], so if you want I will try and get one and you can have it for face value. Just give me a wee pm.

That is pure class :agree:

But I have to say mate .................. It must be a hell of a holiday you are going on :greengrin

We should create a sticky thread which will act to alert us of any cup final tickets on Ebay and we can sabotage the bidding process by going in with ridiculous offers. This will effectively screw up their chances of selling the ticket and we should all e-mail the club to make sure it is pulled from Ebay.

Genuine question - aren't you allowed to sell tickets on eBay?

The problem is that folk are/will be getting a hold of spares in the 1st place.

Folk should only really be taking up spares unless they have someone for it or are planning to do something altruistic like give it away to a 'deserving' case on here. The fact that spares will end up on eBay or with touts says more about the individual that Hibs' cup final ticket policy IMHO.

If they all went to a general sale, there would be the same problem, I would think.

Back when Hearts were in the final against Gretna a jambo mate in London asked a favour to go and pick up 4 tickets for him in Glasgow (I was working there at the time)

I got a phone call to go to a hotel and meet this guy who turned out to be the manager of a first division team at the time!!!!

Gigs tickets annoy me as people now buy with a view just to sell them on and deny people a shot at getting them when they go on sale.

Tickets that come under an entitlement are a bit different and surely people can do with those what they want?

Not sure I see the big issue here. If someone is entitled to a ticket, as a result of their loyalty to Hibs throughout this season, then they can do with it what they want. As long as there's a Hibs fan in the seat - one who's happy with paying whatever price they paid - then what's the issue? The club don't lose out at all.

Having sold a few rugby tickets as a kid I used to agree with that. I used to make 20 quid a ticket.
Just seems a bit off charging over £200 mark up when you see the stories here of people who spent hours phoning

Aye thats what I'd do :agree:

They may be entitled to "do as they wish" but they are still ****, surely they all know someone desperate for ticket and could do the honourable thing but nah they'll just rip folk off..... Sadly out of desperation people will pay stupid sums....

Horrified to see so called fans on both sides trying to flog "spare" tickets on Gumtree.:grr:
Examples:

3 X for yams end - £1,000
1 X for Hibs end - £125+

I had a spare yesterday and I have two mates wanting the ticket I'll charge the eh let me see....... £28.00

These people are vermin and are a disgrace to both clubs....

Having once been scammed out of over £200 for AC/DC tickets some mutant on eBay I have had nothing but utter contempt and hatred for these type of people.

Although I have my ticket my sister tried in vain for over 4 hours yesterday online and on the phone for a ticket. When I got home from work she asked what I felt was a fair amount to pay someone on Gumtree and I said you shouldn't bother.

If they've done enough to be entitled to the tickets, then they're free to do whatever they want with them. They're not forcing people to pay that amount.

There are indeed free to do it, but they're still c****.

When Hibs meet Hearts in a Scottish Cup final, there is no such thing as a 'spare ticket'. Ask the other 50,000+ supporters from both sides who were unlucky in not being able to get one.

These people should be flayed and eviscerated at at Leith docks.

I am all for these sights selling items that people need to get rid of, but until the goverment intervenes with a policy that will stop the down right blatant theft from people who really do want to see the games or concerts, these profiteerers will continue to prey on the needs and wants of those who failed to secure tickets. Tickets should only be allowed to be sold at face value, plus any reasonable handling fee. Ridiculous that this is still allowed to happen, friggin hate when I can't get tickets for concerts because some twat has managed to get through on the lottery concert hotline and secure 20 that are then immediately bunged on these sights at ridiculous prices. Do something about it Mr Cameron.. Rant over...

The argument is of course "supply & demand" and these pimples on the face of society will do anything to make a fast buck. It infuriates me that some folk will have bought tickets for either end with the sole intent of profiteering out of it, I'm all for free enterprise but come on these people actually are supporters, either season tickets, loyallty points (Hearts) or had to be on the Hibs databse so they arent even real touts just utter **** ripping off their own.

I might be wrong, but I think you are allowed to sell it at any price you wish, so long as you inform the buyer of the actual face value of the ticket, do not deface it, and agree the selling price. I would be delighted to be wrong, and in no way condone this.

To me it sounds like the same as paying for a hooker. You're paying for an hour of her time....whatever else happens is between the two parties.

Punter pays the £28 quid for the ticket....the rest is a service charge between the two.

Here, here, couldn't agree more Green Goblin. I work every Saturday (have done for about 25 years) and help run my son's team on Sundays so hardly get to any games (was there on Monday and at semi) but have supported Hibs since I was about 6 or 7. (Still remember getting lifted over the turnstiles:tsk tsk:) I couldnt get a ticket yesterday despite re-dialling Hotline for 3 hours without getting through (didn't know about Option 3) and getting a ticket on the on-line (Row B Seat 39) but payment system locked out:grr:. Desparate to go but not being held to ransom by some tout!

Hardly. Fans know the cost of a ST up front and the benefits it brings. If they can't afford it/won't use it, they won't buy it. These tickets for sale have a face value that has been grossly inflated and someone is profiteering at the expense of a genuine fan.

Thats hardly the same thing. Buy a ST from Hibs and you are entitled to all home league games next season for your £400, buy from a tout and your entitled to taff all for whatever ridiculous amount is added onto the face value.

I'm in the lucky position that I ended up with two spares, those two spares have gone to good Hibbys at face value, I wouldnt even contemplate trying to profiteer from fellow fans.

Do people genuinely believe there are others out there that don't know what they are doing when they buy a ticket that is overpriced?

I would say fans know the benefits that even an overpriced cup final ticket and would be very surprised if someone paid £100 for a ticket only to turn up at the game and go "is it really £28?".

As has been said if they can't afford/won't use it they won't buy it, unfortunately this stuff will always happen. Look at the prices of hiring buses to go through to glasgow inflating overnight due to the all Edinburgh final.

It's a big bad world.....

They could easily asked around their friends or even stuck it on one of the Hibs Forums, or if they wanted to make to sell it above face value plus p &p or delivery then why not offer any profit goes to a worthwhile cause.

If I had 2 spare tickets I would sell them at cost+ expenses for postage etc, I know I could get well over face value but I know how it feels to struggle to get a ticket so for me as much as we all like to make money this is an occasion I would not be looking to do that.

Unfortunatly some people feel they can make money and will try and sell them for a lot more than face value however as much as I disagree with it I would not try to disrupt or block the sale as a person whom wants to go and is prepared to pay that will be denied. If the person can think it is ok to charge a fellow Hibbie £300 for 2 tickets and is comfortable with themselves then that is up to them.

If you are a genuine Hibby you MUST know other genuine fans who have failed to get a ticket. Thats where you should be directing your 'extras'.
I know at least 6 'proper' long standing fans who have, for one reason or another, not got a brief.

I remember outside *********** the night we beat Dundee utd 1-0 (Jacko) in the semi. Some gadgie was trying to sell a ticket for twice the face value and one guy was buying (though he looked pissed off at being taken for a mug) when another Hibby walked past, saw what was happening, smacked the greedy pr1ck in the mouth, putting him on his erchie, snatched the ticket out his hand and handed it to the young prospective buyer.

You only have to read the thread where Hibs fans with spares are looking to give them at face value to folks who are flying in from China, Australia, New Zealand, the States etc. to see what's wrong with this and how it should be done. As I have said before, there's also plenty of folks back home whose being able to go to the game would mean the world. I only wish I could help those folks out. Make a few extra quid at a fellow Fan's expense or help one out who has gone to extraordinary lengths to be there or to whom it would mean the world to be there on the 19th? Yeah, it's a tough one right enough....

This is why you should never buy from these conning gits. That's the second one in two days claiming to be selling hibs tickets but they're actually for the hearts end.

Sitting at over £1000 with 4 days left. So is this person not getting the auction hacked with bids from angry hibs supporters?

I had a spare ticket for about 2 minutes - just sold it to my pal for 29.50 - 28 plus booking fee

How can any Hibs fan not have pals that want a ticket?

I could get rid of 10 easy...

So these guys that are selling tickets for big profits are also bumping people that they are connected to...

There is a Report button on Gumtree ads which you can notify mods if breaching Gumtree terms & conditions.

If dodgy they should be removed

I'm fairly sure that Football tickets are not a valid category:dunno:

Edit - and onther 2 where the guys 'won' them as part of the ballot but doesnt need them. Bloody good of him to go to the effort of buying the tickets he doesnt need and selling them on for a healthy profit!!
