this is a bit of a nightmare... same day as the champions league final... fair enough, but also the same day as the Heineken Cup final which I was planning on attending, whether or not Edinburgh are there - clearly Hampden still wins every time but a bit annoying!

SKY should not be able to dictate the Final's time, that just is not acceptable, especially as
I have to get down from the Highlands.
Fek off Murdoch.

TV can show it live at 3pm on Saturday so it won't change.

It is a Saturday 3pm kick off. Next year it will be played on Sunday and that is not down to TV but UEFA.

This year though it is Saturday 19th May 2012. TV do not dicate.

The only reason televised games are not Saturday 3pm is because UEFA 'blackout' rules. In the UK you can't show a game live on TV between 2.45pm-5.15pm on a Saturday. Only dispensation is for Cup Finals and Internationals.

Hence, it is Saturday 3pm.

I can't understand people asking the question to be honest as no Scottish Cup Final (replays aside) have not been Saturday 3pm as far as I can remember.

This. The Scottish cup final is the only game that is fixed for 3pm on the Saturday as there are no other Scottish club games on that day. So definitely the 19th at 3pm.

Sky Sports news advertised their "SOCttish" Cup final coverage starting from 2.30pm Saturday 19th May. I doubt they would start coverage at 2.30pm for a 12.45 kick off.

I had taped game yesterday and have just watched the end bit again. Said it is a 2.30pm kick off - unless they are referring to the programme start as you say, but it clearly states 'kick off' time. Let's hope it is a 3pm kick off as it should be.

Yes it does say 3pm on their official website!

If it were the Glesga teams, they'd be on after Soccer AM for the build-up.

This could be complete hearsay but I read something on Twitter (where myths/rumour easily become fact TBF) yesterday that suggested SKY could opt out of showing it if none of the OF made it. Surely not?

Doubt SKY will opt out. They'll soon realise its the biggest game in Scotland for years. Anything the ugly sisters have done ( or anyone else ) just doesnt compare. The UK media will be there, including SKY ............. Simply , a huge fixture.

Sky's pre-match has always been half an hour regardless of Rangers or Celtic featuring. BBC Scotland are the ones that go the whole hog.

Sky would also never give up the right to show it, they'll pull in a huge audience for this and have been plugging it on SSN already. And if it was East Stirling v Brora Rangers they're still contractually obliged to show it.

And it would never ever be anything but 3pm. Set in stone. A possible CL final of Barca-Real that evening seems absolutely irrelevant now.

Chill people. We'll have ample time to get bevvied to calm the nerves :agree:

But they won't. 3.00pm Saturday 19/05/12.

Might actually be sensible in terms of limiting the time fans can be on the bevy, considering is a Hibs-Hearts final. Whatever the result, we want to make sure everyone remembers it for the football and the right reasons.

Mikey_1875
17-04-2012, 12:42 PM
Hope its not true, not that ill be sleeping before the game due to nerves but a 12:30 kick off and no doubt a 9/10 start on the booze means it is a long day where as starting around 12 means the party or time until I fall into a gutter! can last into the small hours of Sunday and beyond ! Either way it certainly won't dampen the occasion when the hibs take home the trophy!

English cup final is kicking off at 5.15pm , so nothing is sacred , but lets hope our one is at 3.00pm.

That may be because it is held during the regular league season.

The Scottish Cup is after the league Programme has finished.
