Makes financial sense for fans, but what do the traditionalists think? Should we still have a day out in Glasgow?

So now a bid is under way to shift the May showpiece from its traditional Hampden Park home to Murrayfield, if both sides successfully negotiate their semi-finals this weekend.
Fans say that would save thousands of families huge travel costs and create a carnival atmosphere in the Capital.
The move has won backing from Hearts-mad deputy leader of the city council Steve Cardownie and Paul McLellan, the Hibs- loving leader of East Lothian Council.

Not for me. Hampden is the home of Scottish Football and the Scottish Cup. Murrayfield is the home of Scottish Rugby. Non starter from the SFA as it would mean having to pay for the use of Murrayfield i'm sure.

Fundamental law of the Universe..... the minute people start talking about where a Hibs-Hearts final should be, there isn't one.

Not a hope in hell.

The SFA squandered millions upgrading Hampden and will use it on every occasion. They will certainly not be paying cash to the SRU to rent Murrayfield.

Hampden all the way. Murrayfield is a great stadium for RUGBY!! Trip through to the Weeg is much more fun. But we have the task of beating Aberdeen first.

Wont happen, so a complete non-starter.

The SFA will be contractularly bound to hold the game at Hampden with sponsors, etc so its not even worth considering unfortunately.

It'll never happen, even though if we were both to reach the final it should!

Hampden is a **** hole, Murrayfield is 10 times the stadium Hampden is!

The SFA wouldn't want shown up by having 65,000+ fans in a show piece final outside of the stinking weedge!!

Even though it would be the right thing to do :agree:

I'm not too concerned where about we lift the Scottish Cup against those Gorgie Goons. Might be quite nice to do it in their own back yard, and have a Edinburgh showcase, but Hampdump would also be acceptable.

It would be nice to start the victory parade from Murrayfield back to Easter Road. :flag:

Whats Murrayfield got to do with football?

A lot. The Scottish Claymores used to play proper football there.

No, Hampden is the national football stadium.

won't be All Edinburgh Final...But if it were no point in Murrayfield - we couldn't shift 3000 tickets last time we played in West Edinburgh

I personally think it's a non-starter but that's got to win the award for most ridiculous argument of the day.

If it was a semi-final I could understand having it at Murryfield, but not for a final

Any rent to the SRU would be more than compensated for by the larger attendance (67k vs 50K).
Far more fans would be able to attend.
Murrayfield is a better stadium with better sightlines.
The saving in time and money for fans not having to travel would be immense.
There would be no risk of trouble between travelling fans on the same train or at Harthill.

Against that Murrayfield is a rugby stadium, so has no facilities for segregation.
And the SFA are too full of their own self-importance to consider the fans.

The first problem can be overcome, the second is insurmountable.

For a Hibs v hahahahearts final Wembley wouldn't be big enough but it has to be Hampden for me
