I'm not exactly a regular on the holy ground forum, but I found this and thought it was worth sharing. Some pretty scary predictions - if they were ever able to achieve human immortality then that would be astounding.

The divorce rate would go through the roof. So would murder rates.

In relation to the California prediction, I once tried to get a bookies to take a bet on a Civil War within the US within a set period of time (i.e 10 years, 20 years etc.) but couldn't find any takers.

Seems very likely to me.

It's an interesting question which I frequently ponder over. Will there indeed be a human world in 100 years time or will various nuclear explosions have reduced us all to ashes?

I'm with the cockroaches.

Easter Road 100 years from now

As the fans flock to the Sir Tom Farmer Stadium, paying homage to the statue of Sir Rod Petrie's mustache outside the main entrance, many are reading their matchday magazine IPad18's and perusing a message from life president and direct descendant of the 'tash, Lord Petrie of Bankton. The message is clear in telling the support that the stadium is to be increased in size to accomodate the many thousands that have decided to help the matchday atmosphere by joining S43 and singing such ditties as ..........

"Where are you now, Jambos?"

"Does anyone remember Rangers"

"Sorry Dons fans but sheep are now extinct"

and long time favourite "Who the eff was Wallace Mercer"

Makes me kinda glad I'll be long gone :greengrin

Actually the thought of life 100 years from now is a nightmare.

The whole world could be labouring under a totalitarian dictatorship, markets having collapsed some 50 years previously.

Hopefully in 100 yrs dental care would be completely painless, there'd be a cure for the common cold, and Easter Road had some mirrors and hot water put up in the women's toilets!

I wonder what music would sound like... and what people in the futur
e would think of us in the here and now. I bet 100 yrs ago people said the same thing!

As a guage of accuracy I remember doing a project at primary (so roughly 40 years ago) on what life would be like in 2010.

The results showed that we would all be living in Cities covered over by huge plastic bubbles, all the streets would be moving pavements, we'd all have flying cars, people would commute to their jobs on Mars/The Moon/Betelgeuse on a daily basis and we would all seemingly wear huge, pointy epaulettes on all of our kegs.

I feel cheated to this day.

My prediction for the next 100yrs is that we will be able to teleport. Not sure how it would work exactly but I guess you'd get in a seat of some kind and your body would be broken down, fired along some cable and then re-assembled at your destination.

Sounds a bit mental but no more far fetched than mobile phones, internet and landing on the moon would have done in 1912.

Genetic engineering will remove the need to eat. We will be able to survive on pollutants in the air.

150 year old bankers will be complaining about the shortfall in their pension.

Glasgow Rangers will be the only team in the world.

The lack of epaulettes is particularly disappointing.

Growing up, every image of the future seemed to include funky uniforms (I'm thinking 'Buck Rogers in the 25th Century'-style).

Until we get that sorted, there's no point worring about the trivial stuff like famine, water shortages or global poverty :agree:

You're worried about that, and we haven't got wrist watch TVs. Honestly it's a wonder the human rave got this far. Can't wait till the year 2525....anyone?

I don't mean to be rude but that sounds scary as ****. The thought of our bodies being broken down into some cable... :faint:

Epaulettes, maybe field-grey breeches and leather boots too. With those at my disposal tomorrow belongs to me.

Aye, I agree. It's one of the more creative posts on hibs.net but I reckon its possible. I haven't looked in to the physics though so there's also a reasonable chance I'm speaking bollocks.

I reckon it'd be practical (transatlantic in a nanosecond), economic (how much can it cost to send a signal along a cable) and good for the environment (planes produce a lot of pollution). We'll see.

I'm not saying that human teleportation is imminent or even likely within the next 100 year's but its not complete fantasy either:

I reckon that the first part of the sequence would have to be the administration of a fairly powerful sedative, as transportation would have to involved the complete breaking down of the body into it's molecular parts, transporting these over a distance and then the reassembly hopefully in the correct order.......it's bad enough getting a filling without analgesia can you imaging the pain of having your whole body ripped apart the replaced even if only for a nanosecond!

If it meant I could be home for the final it'd be worth every agonising nano-second.

My prediction for 2112 is that hearts will finally win the scottish cup after enduring a record of 100 years not winning it since losing to hibs in the 2012 final

Hibs fans will be singing about Hearts going 106 years without winning the big cup. :agree:

Their only retort will be to point out 105 is more accurate if you count it properly. :greengrin
