I think we would sign him as a goalie rather than a croupier.

I wonder if the journalists have been trawling the forums again?
the was/is a thread on P+B about Langfield returning to action again after his lay off and hes out of contract i think at the end of the season, couple of Hibs fans suggested that Hibs should have a look at him,

Must be a slow day on the Rangers tax case news wise and they can't be bothered to ask some serious questions about RFC

I mentioned when this came up the last time that us signing a keeper who goes by the nickname clangers (his mates and team mates openly call him this) is simply asking for trouble.

No better than what we have. I heard he's been offered a job at Hamilton as player/ goalie coach.

Usual .net reaction to Hibs signing another SPL player. FFS if he signs support him and the team. 10 days ago Stack was getting slaughtered for being terrible. Now Hibs get linked with a experienced SPL keeper who is not Hibs class.

My memory of him is a decent keeper, not seen him enough to have a real opinion on him though.

We need to remember though there's a good chance he's being brought in as second choice keeper, if so he's probably a decent enough player to provide competition for whoevers first choice.

Being experienced doesn't make him good, one of the worst spl goalies and a complete bellend aswell.

Weve also been linked to one of the St. Johnstone back up keepers this morning. Honestly dont think Stacks that bad that we need to be looking at guys that cant get a game for other SPL clubs.

Other clubs have had a fair bit of success looking abroad for keepers (or even down South), even if its on a loan deal, think we should be looking a bit further than SPL reserves.

It will be Brown we're looking to replace with these guys, not stack imo.

I think stack will probably leave as well as our budgets gone down since he signed but I'd hope we do what your suggesting in terms of looking abroad for a new first choice keeper.

Whilst i wouldn't say I know him, his partner was friends with an ex of mine and I did spend a bit of time in his company. I'd stop short of calling him a bellend, he seemed pleasant enough, but he's another example of the kind of culture we should be trying to stamp out at ER. Likes more than one drink on a Saturday night as well as a couple during the week. The Magaluf incident was also well publicised at the time. Whether that has changed since his health scare I don't know.

More relevant is the fact we would, yet again, be replacing one or two players with a player in the same position who is no better than what we currently have.

Perhaps that's why we should wait and see who the manager signs and how they play before making that call?

He's been in a Scotland squad and for all scotlands faults that's one area we're pretty decent and think he was aberdeens no 1 when they were finishing 3rd and doing well in Europe so I'd suggest he probably does have more ability than those two.

Whether fenlon can get the best out of him and whether its worth the gamble is probably the question to be asking here

The tabloid reports indicate that it is Scott Thomson (our goalkeeping coach) who has recommended Langfield.

He probably is better than our incumbents, however he is not someone I would be excited about. I think he is an average keeper and has let a few howlers in during his stint at Aberdeen.

Our fans and even the press are very unforgiving when it comes to our GK's dropping clangers, which only inflates the problem.

We were spoiled with fantastic keepers for years, Leighton being the last best one we've had sprinkled by a Colgan career high period and the wonderful Andersson. The rest have not really been anything to shout about.

I'm obviously in a very small minority in saying he could be a decent addition. Not that I've followed his career closely, but when I've seen him he's been decent.

Was he not injured a couple of seasons ago? Just seems to have dipped in quality since.

Still would say he'd be a good signing.

Might be a bit hazy, but did he not have a heart scare last year?

If so, maybe not such a problem opposed to outfield positions.

Reminds me of the 1st time Orman went down which was frightening to witness.

Why are people telling us to stop moaning? I don't see why I should pretend to be positive about a potential signing who I don't believe is good enough.

He only ever got into the Scotland squad because loads of keepers were injured at the time.

To be fair. Langfield is a decent keeper and given some of the utter balloons who have had the #1 shirt at Hibs probably better than most.

It's not as if we could get Victor Valdes or Iker Casillas.

Hopefully this isn't true, he's had more howlers than Lon Chaney Jnr. Terrible keeper.

We couldnt get David Villa or Gonzalo Higuain either, so should we just go for Darren Mackie?

If the closing comment in the Express article is anything to go by I've got heavy doubts as to the reliability of this Express journalist's info though....
