Great weekend for us just gone. Suspected Dunfermline would lose to Utd but thought we might follow suit at ICT so great to get a win at a tough venue. Really got to look at it as a bonus 3 points.
Had hoped to go to game as was due to be in Highlands but plans changed and never even saw it in the end. Sounds like the performance, certainly in the first half, was the usual poor stuff we have seen recently but hopefully the second half will boost confidence for next week.
Last games before the split at the weekend and a chance to go further clear. They have Hearts at home, who look in decent form though are not strong on the road, as they chase their first home win of the season. Don't know if Hearts will take the foot off the gas now they are in the top 6 and have one eye on their cup game with Celtic but hopefully they will still be too strong for Dunfermline and will get at least a point. Unless there is a conspiracy between FJK and his old team...
Tough game for us at home to Motherwell but they have lost a couple lately and the win should give the team a bit of confidence. I'm guessing the worst things will be for us this time next week will be us being a minimum of 5 points clear of the Pars but could well be much better than that.
As an aside, though we have not won many games this season when we have the players have shown a lot of character to do so. When we won up at ICT earlier in the season we got a late goal which shows signs of never giving up. Our 3-2 wins against St Johnstone, St Mirren, Dunfermline and ICT yesterday have all come after we have either gone behind, been pegged back level or lost a lead sometimes all in the same game. It might show a lack of quality and concentration but it shows that there is fight in the squad it just doesn't happen or work for them often enough. Perhaps this coupled with a lack of quality is what has done for us this season.
All things considered, we have a good chance of staying up and maybe even getting to a cup final. Hands would have been bitten off for that at various points this season and still would be!
