Sad news, not sure about what the recovery or illness entails but know as much as that it aint a walk in the park, best wishes to him, always was a cracking player up here.

Dreadful news. One of those players that you dislike when he is playing against you but would love to have in your team. Total 90 minutes guy.

Pretty sad on a day when Patrice Muamba posted that great pic on his Twitter account.

Sad, sad news. Leukemia is a **** of a disease. Hopefully he gets the best treatment available. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, let alone a decent pro like Petrov

What a horrible month its been. :bitchy: This just tops it off completely.

I've never been Petrovs biggest fan, but this is awful.

Hopefully its still in its very early stages and they can stop it in its tracks before it can develop further.

Bad news. Would that Hibs had a player with half his drive and ability.

What awful news, I have to admit I always thought Petrov was one of the worst divers in the SPL but I would never ever wish leukaemia on anybody. I have friends who went through a long process of treatments but it is, sadly, most of the time incurable. I just really hope there is something they can do for him.

I just read the story online. Terrible news. All the best to him, and fingers crossed for a full recovery.

Terrible news. By all accounts he sounds like a true gentleman and he's a great footballer. Thoughts go out to him and his family, and heres hoping he can make a full recovery.

On a brighter note, great to see Fabrice Muwanba posting a picture of himself sitting up, smiling in hospital. Hopefully Petrov can overcome his battle too.

Had a mate who battled leukemia a few years back.

I actually volunteered to have my bone marrow tested to see if it was a match for a donation. Bloody sair!!

There was a hell of a lot of tough times and a lot of pain, gruelling treatment and so on.

However that same mates girlfriend just gave birth to their first child a couple of months back and he is now 3 years cancer free.

An absolute **** of a disease but with modern medicine it is beatable.
