Diane's Pool Hall a definite early opener?
High risk of being overrun with Jambos I would have thought.

Any tip offs to places opening early would be appreciated, hoping for an alternative to boozing at home at 9am.

Biddy Mulligans down the Grassmarket used to always be open at 9am on a Sunday too.
They were going to lose their early license ages ago as the council said as the hotel next to it wasn't physically joined/part of the bar there was no way they could grant them an early drinks license......So they just knocked a huge big hole in the wall, thus connecting the bar direct to the next door hotels reception, problem sorted!! :greengrin

Same owners as the Bank bar, same expensive prices too, but when there's not any other option beggars can't be choosers i suppose! :greengrin

One thing is for sure, this will be the first time in about 20years of attending derbies at Tynie that we can't get a drink at the Roseburn. Sad times.

It'll just make the inevitable post-match victory drink all the sweeter.

Is the Roseburn not open on Sunday?

If not... cheers for the Murrayfield Hotel tip off :agree: Are they cool with football colours etc?

No problem at all, was rammed there for the game earlier in the season. Had loads of staff on though so no problem at all to get served

Because its not open??

:aok: I knew that but thought there was some bigger reason it was closed. So sure that it has been open for other Hearts v Hibs matches in the past.

What's the best time to go - do you reckon 9am? I've been disappointed with busy pubs pre-derby games in the past, don't want it to happen this time 'round!

You'll sporadically get some joker - usually some power mad manageress - saying "hide those colours please", but it's never actually enforced with 2-300 Hibbies parting with cash in large amounts

No problem at all with that last time, they even had a BBQ set up outside for the Hibs fans. Had a couple of bouncers hanging about to be on the safe side but they were a good craic and no issue at all for a good sing song both inside and outside.

A couple of years ago, me and a couple mates had a wannabe policeman trying to tell us to keep it down - they kept closing the door from the main bar into the hallway like that would make any difference.

Funny things was, we were just about the only group NOT singing at that moment in time :greengrin.

In general, I agree with you. Definitely my pre-derby drinking location of choice

Owned by Hibby, whose other half is a season ticket holder. Half the staff are hibbies and a LOT of the clientèle are hibbies. While there may be a few yams in there it'll be far from 'overrun'.
