The public will be asked to decide the name of the new Forth bridge. Any suggestions?

I haven't put much thought to it yet, but I reckon there should be 2 names.

One for coming towards Edinburgh and one for heading to Fife.

The Third Forth Bridge.

Its actually the Fifth Forth if you count the Kincardine and Clackmannanshire bridges

Hmm. "The Fifth Forth Crossing If You Count The Kincardine and Clackmannanshire Bridges" would be a very expensive road sign. It would also probably be translated into Gaelic which means it would be huge and a wind liability.

I was still chuckling about this 10 minutes after I read it!

Rangers FC Memorial Bridge - the thought of people "crossing" it everyday would have them turning in their graves!

Since it is to replace the Forth Road Bridge it should be the Fifth Road Bridge.

Cue demands from the separatists that it be named after our Glorious Leader :greengrin

Sixth? Is there no one at Stirling?

The best I've heard was from one sceptic who doesn't think we need another bridge.
"Bridge over the river. Why?"

I don't know why they don't just call it "Road bridge 2". It's an inanimate object and the name should only really be about distinguishing it from the original bridge.

You could call it "The goblet of fire bridge" or even "Steve" but all I would care about is what turn off I take to get to it.

Maybe I watch too much Scooby Doo or something but I think we should call it the "Bridge of Death". Got a nice ring to it.

Well make it the 'fourth forth road bridge' since the other is a rail bridge.

:aok: Very good, Cornelius

My choice?
"Brig o' Doom" would seem appropriate given how black the future looks
