There are some players that you know when they are about to shoot you should just look away or read your programme, and Saturday had several examples. Next time it happens, check the colour of their boots.
I remember buying a pair of boots per season. It took several games to ‘wear them in’ and in time they moulded themselves to your feet. They would be worn even after the odd hole appeared in the leather and eventually getting rid of them was like losing old friends.
Do the players that chose to wear the new fancy-coloured fashion statements spend any time ‘wearing them in’ or do they practice in them on a match day? I hate to think that they use their old boots for training (scoring barrow loads from all angles) and then choose to make a fashion statement on Saturday, perhaps even for a fee. It may be an age thing but I hate them.
