What a crashing bore basketball. The season goes on and on, and the games last ages, with half the teams making the post season play-offs.
The best thing to do: watch the very last five minutes of the games in the post-season, and forget the rest.

While I like basketball I do find myself just watching the Celtics post season games as I just can't keep up with the season. Same with baseball and the red sox.

Are you being sarcastic Bob? With the lock out, the regular season started on Christmas Day this year and is due to finish at the start of April and games (albeit with time outs) only last for 48 minutes. Having 8 teams from each conference in the playoffs keeps a lot more teams in contention - much better than the exciting chase for a top six place in the SPL. I'm an Indiana fan and we grabbed an eight seed last year and pushed Chicago very close in every postseason game.
NBA is by far my favourite sports league at the moment, the quality might not be great with so many games crammed into such a short space of time but it's been a lot of fun to watch.

Well into the play offs folks, it seems there was some bad refereeing decisions

Fully into it now that Boston are in the conference final.
Tonight Rondo was unreal.

Anyone else addicted to this Heat-Celtics series? Rondo is a Beast!

Boston certainly keeping it interesting for a bunch of old guys plus Rondo :agree: My team are the Pacers and we kept up with the Heat for the first 3 games of our series then Wade / LeBron just tore us apart.

I was surprised the pacers took it as far as they did. The Celtics IMO have the upper hand after last night

Swings back to Miami now, no chance of a win there IMO.

I've never noticed this thread throughout the season - evidently, based on the lack of replies, it's not been overly popular
I fancied the Heat at the start of the year actually. Made a lot of noise during the off-season last year and no shock to see them on the edge now.
Pistons had a pretty awful season and although I'm not really a basketball fan, I did see a few games for a change. We've gone down and down and down since I started supporting them in 2008 when we actually made the playoffs!

True, not many posts on here! I find it hard to keep up with the Celtics (same as Bruins and red sox) until towards the end. I guess I am a glory hunter in that respect (in recent years anyway!)
Heat should win it this year, LeBron deserves a title ring and I reckon the Celtics will just run out of steam in the end.

Despite me having a semi-respectable sense of loyalty to the New England sports teams (Patriots, UConn, Red Sox (though mostly Pawtucket I stress!)), I simply couldn't bring myself to support a team called the Celtics :greengrin
Did you get tickets for Wembley by the way?

No I didn't, still waiting on a job offer in NY/CT area that will run till the end of November! If that falls through I will fight for a ticket, if not then I am going to the holy ground!

Where are you going, the Gardens or the Meadowlands?
I kinda lost all interest in the NBA after they killed off the Sonics :fuming::grr::brickwall. Tried to go with the Nets but just couldn't get the feel for it. Even then they keep moving them all over the place.

Six games was about right. Don't think anyone gave us much of a chance as there was so liitle attention on the team during the year, despite having the fifth best record in the NBA. I can see the Heat grabbing the next two - especially if they get Bosh back, he adds a bit of presence in the paint and takes that bit of pressure off their poor supporting cast to put up numbers they're just not capable of.

Off to Brooklyn next season and I've a slight suspicion they could end up with Dwight Howard down the line - certainly worth getting on board with now.
Or you could hold off until the Kings get moved to Seattle.

Been to the meadowlands already, cant say I was impressed, very bland and boring, much like the teams who play there... :na na:

Should be one hell of a final!
Be great to see James square up against Durant - something we never seen in a final with him and Kobe.
The final should be a good matchup and if LeBron is on the same form he was against Boston, it should be a great competition!

The US should be allowed to field 3 or 4 teams at the Olympics to make it interesting. Must be the biggest disparity in any sport between the top country and the next best (Spain) Either that or make it a team of NCAA players.
Still will watch them though as love seeing the likes of LeBron, Durant and Davis tear it up.

They could easily fill three or four teams, there arent even any Celtics players on the Roster!

That's because most of them spend the off season in old folks homes until the new season starts, the old men need their rest :greengrin
Noticed my Knicks traded Jeremy Lin to the Rockets, not sure how I feel about that, he was phenomenal for parts of last season, but happy with the pick up of Jason Kidd to replace him, he'll surely keep Melo et al's egos in check!

The Knicks can't be that far off having the oldest team in the league with Camby and Kidd; even Amare's looking past his best. I'm surprised they didn't match Lin's offer from Houston - I know it would affect their cap room situation but financially off the court he must be worth a ton to whoever he plays for. When the Knicks visited Indiana this year it felt almost like a home game for them with all the support that turned out for Lin in their Knicks jerseys. It's also incredible to think that Houston waived him only 6 months ago to make space for Dalembert and are now forking out $30m for his services.
