I can't believe the attendance was only 8065 for the match last night.

The official capacity of the ground is 13,755 so this would mean nearly 5700 empty seats. From where I was sitting (the bottom tier of the away stand) I'd say the section I was in was 50% full and the top tier looked nearly full, but I couldn't really see that area from my seat.

Also I'd say you'd do well to find more than 1000 empty seats in the home stands.

Just seemed near capacity - certainly more than 8000!

exactly , where are they pulling this stats from ? when we entered the ground there was just a guy collecting the vouchers with no machine or anything just hand over and walk in so how can they get true attendance from that ?

From that picture the stand looks about half full and from memory it holds about 4000.

Absolutely GREAT Atmosphere.

Well done to the home fans it must be good to play in front of that I have been going to Fir Park for years and never seen a better atmosphere, something we can only dream off with our Flashy new stand.

I read elsewhere that there were 800 Hibs fans - the lower tier seemed to have quite a bit taped off and there were plenty of empty seats where we were sat in the upper tier.

Agree about the atmosphere from the home fans, they really gave them a ton of backing. Sounded like the Sect43 boys made a bit of a racket in the lower tier but it was pretty subdued in the upper tier for most of the game.

The attendance must have just been counting the tickets they exchanged/posted out and not the match abandoned vouchers. there would have been close to 8000 in the home end.

.

The bottom tier front 8 or 9 rows were as you say taped off. But there was more than 800 Hibs fans in the bottom section alone. I'd say about 50% of the seats were taken in the lower section and more than that in the upper. So if the stand holds 4500.....

The top tier was nowhere near full, loads of empty seats, i commented last night that there was a bigger Hibs crowd at the first game.

Whatever the crowd was, well done Motherwell FC for doing their best to get punters to attend the game last night.

Three of us were on the fourth row of the upper tier, one block from the centre so therefore a pretty prime position and there were only two people on the same row as us, and only four on the row behind, so that gives a good indication of how many empty seats there were in the upper. Not trying to play down our support as I thought it was another good turnout, but it certainly won't have been anything close to even 1,500 IMHO.

:agree:

And to crown the night we came back via Carluke and the chippy was giving away a free bag of chips with every supper that was bought. Strangely enough they only had chips left!

We were on the top tier and no chance it was more than half full. Tried to move at half time down to the bottom for the better atmosphere but couldn't see any seats so think the bottom was pretty full :agree:.

Ok fair enough - as I said I couldn't see the top tier.

As I've already pointed out in another thread, if we had a decent team playing good football, pushing for Europe and in with a chance of finishing 2nd in the league and all for a poxy £270 per season ticket our flashy new stand would be jumping.

Biggest crowd I've ever seen at fir park!

Remember 22,000 for a cup tie in the seventies . Well 2- Hibs 2 . Last minute equaliser for the cabbage.

Of course we lost the replay.:grr:

For what its worth, I thought we had a bigger crowd last night than at the first game. There was definately more in the lower tier.

A competitive match with both teams playing for something and you get a decent crowd for a midweek game :agree::thumbsup:

Most were, I was in the enclosure. Can't remember why but I was with my blind cousin (I was doing commentary for the blind lads at the time), so that may have been why.
