So basically i'm conducting a survey on social media in the music industry and looking to gain as many responses as possible. Only takes around 30 seconds and can be accessed from the link below. Huge thanks in advance.

Done, can I predict your results? Big split between the habits of over 40's to under 40's age groups.

Keep us informed it would be nice to know what you find.

No offence meant, but there are some dodgy questions there. Especially if my user IP is recorded after filling out the questionaire. Or am I just being paranoid?

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that they are not out to get you :greengrin

Ah the old ones are the best eh?

I'm taking it that the OP is carrying out research for a degree so wouldn't think there's any need to worry.

Interesting and relevant set of questions. Ginger Rice has it about right. There's a generation who don't realise music should be paid for. I do download tracks illegally but if I like it I then buy it. Used to like nothing better than going into a record shop to get whatever I was after and also buy a couple of things that I had never heard of just to see if it was worthwhile - if it was it was a huge thrill - if it wasn't you could rapidly get rid of the dross as improvised frisbees/ashtrays/returns to second hand shops.

It's obvious that a lot of younger people don't even realise that artists should be paid for their work. I know a lot of people took great delight when Napster et al signalled "the end" of the major record labels but people forgot that those labels didn't just rip off their artists, they also nurtured them and took them new levels. iTunes is the worst Major Label ever, rips off artists more than any old Major ever did with none of the nurturing or personal help that those old labels gave.

That's my approach too - I've discovered many bands through illegal downloads and have gone on to buy their albums (to have the physical copy), see them in concert etc.

I used to buy CD's not knowing what I was getting, and bought some truly awful albums, expecting something decent.

I guess it was always this way before illegal downloads became so widely available mine you.

Done, by the way...
