"He plays for the Hi-bees, He's from Ecuador,
He crosses the ball for McManus to score,
He's not like Latapy, he's not on the booze,
He's Ulysees De La Cruz !!!
Na Na Na,
Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na" (repeat to fade)

Ah happy memories of the back streets of Athens in 2001 - & beers with Frank Zappa

Not to be anal about these things, but Jorge is not South American. Honduras is part of North America.

In a free brothel he couldnae score,
He's not like Latapy, his Nicknames the tank,

Central America isnt a continent - without looking at wikipedia I'd say North America!

As a geographer, there are seven recognised continents. North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and Antarctica.

... but it is a recognised geographical area. Like Eastern Europe, or South East Asia.

Missing my point. I am not arguing whether it is on the CONTINENT of North America or not. I am saying that it is, by convention, recognised as being in the geographical area of Central America. For example, Costa Rican car plates have "CentroAmerica" on them.

Wasn't this signing a nice educational moment. We will need to sign someone from the Middle East next.

Anyway....back on thread.

Athens 2001. The most expensive night out I think I have ever been on. £500 to go to Athens for my tea and a few beers!

But a magic night in the back lanes. Singing with Paddy Stanton. Cleared out at least 3 bars of their large fridges of bottled lager...all within 15 yards of each other. Off to a club somewhere til half five and then back (somehow) to the hotel (somewhere).

We had a perfect view from the hotel window of the Parthenon but we had the curtains closed mostly as the sun was shining on the tv and its assorted "channels" the following morning.:greengrin

Didn't make it back for the actual game the following week.

Or from New Zealand. That should spark an interesting debate because its not part of Australia.

New Zealand is not on the same continental shelf as Australia, the country and the continent, whereas Britain, the island, is with Europe. Basically the water between New Zealand and Australia is much deeper than the English Channel.
