This one is a bit of fun for the Hibernian/SNP minded gentlemen among us. I won't vote because as someone opposed to independence that would unfairly skew the poll.
And for allmodcons, ancienthibby, Hainan Hibs etc I'm happy to acknowledge up front that its a poll that cannot be fairly used in political argument against you.

At 27 I've little doubt Scotland will be independent in my lifetime.
I have hope, but am far far from certain, that I'll see Hibs win the Scottish.

I'll have my cake and eat it. Independence for me ODS. You should know that once we get to the promised land Hibs will win the Scottish Cup. Everything will be good in our new land of milk, honey and Hibs winning loads of trophies.

Definitely independence for me. I really believe in independence whereas Hibs are just a hobby.
Just as I'm sure ODS you wouldn't accept a Scottish Cup win if it meant independence for Scotland.

Ooh, that's a good one. A really, really good one. Very clever. Going have to think long and hard about that.

That is a tough one. For me both are dreams I have come to accept (aged 41) will never happen. Given that, if you gave me a guarantee of either happening if the other didn't, I'd take it.
As to which I'd prefer ... ummm ... hmmm ...ahhh ... I'll get back to you.

Happy birthday?
I don't particularly want independence so definitely a scottish cup win for me.

Am I alone in not caring that much about the Scottish Cup? I want Hibs to win it, obviously, and the League Cup, as they are the only trophies we (and all other clubs in Scotland bar two) have any chance of winning.
But the reality of it is that it's a pretty diddy tournament. I'd rather we made consistent strong top three league showings, with a regular good, group stage European showing.
I think due to our bizarrely poor record in this tournament (when you look at some of the smaller club's records in this tournament) other clubs fans/media make a lot more out of this and are lot more excited about it than Hibs fans.

Scottish independence is possible.
Hibs winning the Scottish Cup is nothing but a romantic dream. :agree:

Isn't there some sad case regular poster from Norwich over on Brokebank who already does that?

I live perfectly happily in Scotland now, so independence holds no great attraction to me.
I really don't understand what all the fuss is about.
I'd love Hibs to win the cup though.

I'm not English, I don't dislike the English but I absolutely hate being called English by thick Johnny Foreigners who can't grasp the difference. I want a Scottish Passport before I die more than a new title on my Hibs coffee mug.

I don't like being called English either and I always correct people when they do.
However, independence or not, you'll still get called English, by "thick Johnny Foreigners".
However, I guess you'll have a document to prove that when you say, as you do now, "I'm not English, I'm Scottish", you're not lying.
By the way, Canada is independent country and its citizens all have lovely shiny Canadian passports. They still get called American, sometimes by thick Johnny Scots and they hate it too.

Point taken. However I presume the thick Jocky Scotts make their error due to the accent and will understand the difference when its pointed out to them.
However even educated foreigners need a history lesson before you can convince them that Scotland is not a part of England. There's even a large portion of the English who believe that Scotland is subject to English rule because they conquered Scotland at some time in the past.
Quite a big difference when you ask me.

I'd rather we get a draw at Ibrox at the weekend than Scotland gets independence. TBH I'd almost rather watch the ****bos win the Scottish cup than Scotland become independent - really can't see it working.

I agree that people think that the UK and England are the same thing and it is a bit irritating.
But really, it's their problem.
I have worked in England for many years and I've never met anyone (who wasn't deliberately trying to wind me up), who thought we were under English rule. quite the reverse actually, given the West Lothian issue etc.
Anyway, on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being death, how important is it that these unimportant individuals know we're a separate country before they meet you and you point it out to them?
Frankly, ignorant folk don't really interest me and I wouldn't want to change our country's constitution because of their stupidity.
