Heard some folk singing this at the St Johnstone game. I guess it has potential but the words need complete alteration. The 'Easter Road, to see the Hibees' bit doesnt fit at all

Thee only team to sing about
Thee only team to see
Thee only team in Edinburgh
Hibernian FC

to the tune of auld lang syne, that's been mentioned before on here but never heard it in the east.

Been hearing that for years at Easter Road, albeit not as much lately. Love it, class song!

Add another few verses and that would be just grand, IMO.

I think we're missing a trick with Fields of Athenry/Anfield Road. If someone could tailor the tune to a Hibs song I think we'd be cooking with gas. All round the Fields of Easter Road and what not.:cb

I remember making one but it was dismissed because Celtic sing it.

Chorus was:

All round the fields, of Easter Road
Where once, we watched, the Famous Five play (and could they play!)
Lawrie Reilly on the wing*
We had dreams and songs to sing
Bout the glory, all round the fields, of Easter Road

*not sure if he played on the wing or not, but sounds good imo

And if you know your history!

Reilly was the centre-forward in the Famous Five, the wingers were Gordon Smith on the right and Willie Ormond on the left.

Could change it to 'Felipe Morais on the wing'? :duck:

That has potential to be a really good song, get it sung. :aok:

I heard a Hibee calling
Turnbull, they have taken you away
But you left a great eleven
Before you went to heaven
Now it's glory round the fields of Easter Road

--Chorus-- All round the fields of Easter Road
Where once we watched the Famous Five play (and could they play!)
Lawrie Reilly on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the fields of Easter Road

I heard a Hibee calling
Turnbull, they have taken you away
But you led the great eleven
Before you went to heaven
And the Hibees, they're still playing the same way

Chorus

The glory, round the fields of Easter Road

It would probably sound better if just the chorus was sung, like Liverpool do (I think) but the whole piece looks good, too. Swap Lawrie Reilly with Willie Ormond it's good to go I'd say!

Liverpool sing it all. Plus they have more verses than the one i posted. :na na:

Where once, we watched, the Famous Five play (and could they play!)
Willie Ormond on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
Bout the glory, all round the fields, of Easter Road

Still not sure it'll go down great with others but will see what others think too.

Make it "Gordon Smith was on the wing".

Like!
This is the type of song that will build an atmosphere, much more so than short snappy chants.
