Don't know much about him but he will be keen to impress this weekend.

The keeper they had playing the last few weeks has been terrible - so not good news for us

Not sure about that. Saw him giving away some absolute shockers this season at Preston. No doubt will be MOM on Saturday. :greengrin

I'm looking at this as a win-win situation for us - the keeper from the last few games has had a few howlers (Smith) so if he played he'd have a wee bit of pressure on him, but if Turner is handed his debut against us then hopefully nerves play a part with it being his home debut and perhaps the defence is not accustomed to how he plays, e.g. does he come for crosses etc.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it all but I certainly am not running for the hills screaming because Dunfermline have signed a new goalie, lets be positive here.

Supposedly signing for Pars on loan. If true that's really bad news, I rate him as a keeper & I was looking forward to us taking advantage of their current bomb scare keeper on Saturday. I still think a top keeper is our #1 priority & IMO he would fit the bill. I hate posting any kind of negative thread so apologies!

The thing about Turner is he looks like he should be a good keeper but he's never really proved it.

Struggled in the first team whenever he got a chance at Everton. He also had a few howlers at Preston before losing his place due to injury, the fact they seem willing to let him leave the club on loan says a lot really.

I realise he has been in Scotland squads but that has always been due to injuries to better keepers at various times; Gordon, Bell and Gilks have all had to be injured for him to get near.

May be tempting fate here but for me they could have Casillas in goals, when you have Potter and Keddie in front of you then there is always the chance you will leak goals. Not for one minute saying we don't have our troubles to seek in defence, however from what I have seen of Dunfermline, if you can get the likes of Leigh and Doyle splitting their defence, not playing off their shoulder, but stretching them, then we can score a few this weekend.

Both their centre halves play square and at times alarmingly open (easily dragged apart through lack of seeing what's around them) ......the space is there for good, nippy players to exploit. They also try and play high which hopefully will see young Leigh and Ivan exploiting that aspect. In midfield they are tidy, but unless the likes of Cardle gets to see a lot of the ball, they are a wee bit toothless.

Very hopeful of 3 points this weekend. Normal kick off time, not on TV, good Hibs crowd after a nice wee cup win where we were expected to fall flat on our face. Maybe a new face added ourselves, who knows.

 Don't understand how you can think that!

I know that Stacka nd Brown are not world beaters, but they are both solid and reliable - the best pair of goalies we've had in zonks asa a matter of fact - and they have made very little contribution to the predicament we find ourselves in.

Our main problems are a dearth of creativity in midfield and a lack of experience and solidity in defence - hence our no1 priorities should be (IMO) a creative central midfielder and a stand out and experienced centre half - closely followed by a pacy right back specialist - preferably all talkers and leaders who can help to drag this team out of the doldrums..

A new keeper would be way way down my list of priorities as both Stack and Brown would have been certain starters over the last 5 years - way ahead of the likes of Maka, Zibi and McNeil.

Turner is 6th choice Scottish keeper if you add McGregor and Marshall to that list. Turner's notoriety from being in a few Scotland squads outweighs his ability.

I believe, as Clough did when he signed Shilton, that a strong spine of the team is essential, & starting with a keeper. I agree we need strengthening in several areas, my 2nd priority would be centre half but comparing our current keepers with those in prior years is hardly a vote of confidence! I think Stack's ok, nothing more but he's cost us points on several occasions this season, not least the very first goal against us. I have no faith in Brown whatsoever, particularly on cross balls. I sincerely hope Brown proves me wrong but I would love us to have a keeper that's the envy of every other team as Yams did with Gordon.

I have not personally seen him for a long time, but a few friends i know who go and watch Preston said last night he was a poor keeper. I suppose they should know, but they were pleased when he was dropped.

This "We're aw doomed" malarky every time someone else in the SPL buys a player really has to stop.

The only keeper of recent times I have been truly confident in and impressed by, for a number of reasons, was when we had Szamotulski short term.

He was commanding and you could hear him shout from Lochend. The team and the opposition were scared of him.....that's how it apppeared. It was his box, his area, so stay out....that kind of attitude. Quick off his line, good coming for things albeit there were times where he punched rather than caught. But he also came here (to ER) on the back of a solid reputation in the SPL. And he looked a right mean bar steward.

Stack for me is a very decent shot stopper. Narrows angles well, but all too often fearful to come and collect. Good on the deck have to say. But there is nothing imposing about him at all. Talks a good game, but I don't think many centre forwards are too scared to go and compete in the box when a ball is pumped in or driven across the area. They all know they have that crucial five yards space that Stack seems reluctant to occupy. Again, just my opinion on his general keeping.....overall one of the better ones we have had in years, but I remain far from convinced by him.

And he should quit the fags.

He was known to like a we drink as well in the morning afternoon and night time, :greengrin

Players were pretty scared of him.

Stack is not going to give up the fags now.

He certainly made Budgie look like an angel SH........used to love it when he caught the ball and took it a wee run around the box like a quarterback. It's a position that certainly attracts (and needs) character. Saying that, you have to hand to the Poles, they can make lethal vodka........I had a few raspberry vodkas pre Christmas, produced in Poland, and it made me spout even more lilian gish and made my clothes fall off......fortunately behind closed doors and in front of the missus........shan cooks though........what the f*** is that sauerkraut all about
