QPR striker Jay Bothroyd believes the appointment of Mark Hughes as the new manager would be “tremendous” as the club close in on naming a successor to the axed Neil Warnock. Hughes arrived at Loftus Road with advisor Kia Joorabchian yesterday to hold talks with chief executive Philip Beard about taking over. Former Wales, Manchester City, Blackburn and Fulham manager Hughes has been out of work since his departure from Craven Cottage in June. Speaking on Twitter, Bothroyd said: “Obviously sad to see the (manager) and Keith Curle go but Mark Hughes and his team would be a tremendous appointment.” It now appears a matter of the Welshman agreeing terms to become QPR’s 14th managerial appointment, including caretakers, since Ian Holloway left in 2006.
