Fantastic verdict. I thought they would get away with it on a technicality.

Good. No doubt they will appeal but hopefully unsuccessfully. Just a shame that their three accomplices appear to have got away with it, although I wouldn't rule out further prosecutions in future.

Great news.

Arrogant **** who gave the two fingers to justice. Hopefully they get long tariffs.

Maybe the 3 accomplices were innocent ?

Maybe they were, maybe they weren't. It's taken 18 years for any justice here and there is still the possibility of further prosecutions. However, to the extent that I read about the trial (and about the case generally over the last several years) it seemed to be the prosecution case that there were more than just these two involved in the murder and there does seem to be a consensus that there were accomplices, so it seems only right to hope that any other individuals involved are brought to justice.

The other suspects are the Acourt brothers and Luke Knight, this documentary from a few years back, gives a good background of the case.

The police don't come out of it well in regards to their handling of the case at the time.

Just watched the Panorama programme on the bbc, the police come out of it very badly, the thing that really got me was the fact that the first officers on the scene didn't make any effort to save his life and instead focused their attention on accusing his friend.

The Stephen Lawrence trials and their findings really have had a massive effect on police procedure and regulation.
Without sounding disrespectful it is shoved in your face....but it's pointless to the majority the of youngsters as they "get it" and it's the old guard who aren't interested and think they're above being told what to do and how to act which are the real problem. The modern recruitment process usually weeds out people with any strong opinions on racial matters.

It was about the met but they aren't that different to any other force.

Hopefully they get long tariffs.

They're being treated as juveniles because of their ages at the time, so I'm guessing they'll not get anywhere near as long as they would have if they'd been a year or so older when they committed the crime.

Interesting to see how much of today's press is crediting the Daily Mail and their long campaign for justice in this case. Despite the criticism that the Mail usually earns, and the recent general press scandals, this case shows that they can also be a very positive influence.

Technically they each got life and those are the minimum sentences they'll serve. It'll be a brave parole board that finds them ready to be released

Dobson already inside doing 5 years for supplying, Another 15 years minimum added on.

Justice at last.

Think he might be a little nervous of some of the black guys on his wing?

I'd doubt that there are any grounds for an appeal. To be retried required a significant assessment of the new evidence.

Anyone see the old guy interviewed in the street on News at Ten tonight when asked if he thought they were guilty he said "no it was a fit up because they killed a ******". Oh dear!!!

I seen that scouse , had to rewind it as i could not believe my ears , as for the convictions of those 2 , possible convictions of the others , i have nothing to base this on apart from a gut feeling , but i think given time something from the police investigation is going to let these scrotes out early

So, nobody has any doubt that this is a slightly flawed conviction ?

TBH I haven't got a clue whether it's flawed or not, I do think that the incompetence of the initial investigation has had a huge part to play in the Police "getting" a conviction though.

So, nobody has any doubt that this is a slightly flawed conviction ?I doubt they got a fair trial as their guilt was proved again and again over the years. The lengths the police went to get them would've had the whole of London burning if they had been black.

Norris and Neil Acourt were sentenced to 18 months in 2002 for a racist attack on an off dut black police officer.

Norris was also beaten up whille in Belmarsh Prison, he was attacked with socks filled with cans of tuna. Ouch !

I know what you're thinking. Problem is Main Stream Media only ever reports from one side of the story. They don't do detail.
