Just seen their goal and Stephens should have halved him.

The defenders look petrified of making a mistake and absolutely nobody really wants the ball.

They're hiding and they need to relax and take some risks on derby day. If we play like this we'll get beat because teams seem to know what we're going to do five minutes before we've done it.

The wide open spaces that appear in our defence at times are alarming!

True...but it started with us having the ball and GOC falling over and giving it away (rather than passing when had chance) and the midfield vanishing prior to the defence failing and a badly positioned keeper diving with 4ft of space beyonf his arms and the inside of the post

My use of the word 'defence' was describing the defensive set-up when the opponents are on the attack - not the back four.

Towell's attempted interception was useless.

Stack wasn't poorly positioned - Hayes was pretty much between the two posts so stack had to give both equal coverage.
