Just saw this - posted on facebook by a Jambo:

"Hibs and Rangers fans causing trouble aroun Broughton area. 5 meatwagons and about 30 officers. Whatta surprise..."

Anyone know if it's true? Bit cold for that kind of carry on I would have thought!

Its true, trouble at Cask and Barrell at the bottom of Broughton Street.

Meatwagons dog vans police cars, easy 50 officers there on both sides of street.

Truth is ALL teams have their "Fighters", why is this such a shock and embarressment ? Human nature when you have two sets of young stags with different allegencies. Fact of life, get on with it. Not condoning it - but sh*t happens folks.

It's true, huge police presence around the cask and barrel in the region of 30, there was more than 5 meat wagons, there was 6 parked on Broughton Rd, 4 on East London street, a couple of polis cars.

Police standing outside the Cask and Barrell were having a banter with the boys who were standing outside having a puff, polis standing accross the road as well again in the region of 30.

Police were called to a skirmish outside the Omni Centre when there was a stampede amongst away fans after a bar of soap was hurled across the road

I went straight to the Cask & Barrel after the game and saw at least 3 police vans, around 30 policemen and a dog handlers' van outside the pub. Didn't expect to be allowed in but we were. It seemed like a restraining exercise by the police, because a couple of times the Hun casuals inside attempted to leave but only got as far as the door and came back in again. There was certainly a nasty atmosphere in the pub until they left around 4.30. When they did go, it looked like they were escorted up Broughton Street by the police. Sad stuff, considering the guys I saw would 've ranged in age from 20's to 40's.

There was also trouble at Scotmid in Easter Road where a few dissatisfied huns were hurling packs of Bird's Eye frozen vegetables at the staff narrowly missing them before crashing against the wall and splitting open. Lothian and Borders Police quickly arrived on the scene and led the thugs away. A source close to me says that they have been charged with "Breach of the Peas".

Was in the Cask after the game too. Was all a bit strange. The policewomen were mostly left to keep an eye on what was happening inside the bar whilst the policemen patrolled outside. The atmosphere wasn't great but I didn't ever feel it was going to kick-of inside the pub. The huns appeared to be known by the police and were bantering away quite happily with them for the most part.
