Just talking to mate about players we need to bring in. We got to talking about good players for what ever reason only graced the Green short term.

Here's a few examples from recent seasons:

Szamo
The mad monk was a top keeper.

Yantorno
The wee man was a bit special, just unlucky with injures.

Rosa
Quality midfielder, who showed some real class.

Vaz Te
Showed he was a player, but could gave more.
If his goal had been the winner on April he'd be a hero.

Le God [I know he was here for a few seasons, but, not long enough]

Steve Archibald

John Connolly

Zittelli

Murphy

Will be many more, just cannae think o' them just now.

I think the OP said "Good players" not "Serial OG merchants" :greengrin

Quite liked Craig James when he was here on loan. Nothing special, but could cross a ball on the move, a skill which has deserted almost every single Hibs wide player since him.

Up until he stopped giving a f***, I didn't think Filipe Morais (or Philip Moray as our announcer insisted on calling him) was as bad as some did.

Ion testimutanu played one game as a trialist against Aberdeen if I remember correctly. So did Thorsten schmugge.

Edit- just googled schmugge. Looks like that appearance was te highlight of his career.

A lot of guys like Derek Collins, Paul Lovering, Justin Skinner etc came in and did a job that was asked of them. Get us out the 1st division then keep us up the next year. A couple of years that were essential in the rebuilding process after the duff Jimmy era.

Obviously the fans remember the Sauzees, Mixus and Latapys but I always feel these guys didn't get the credit they deserve.

Especially Derek Collins who was nothing short of fantastic our first year back but was emptied soon after playing with an injury against the sheep in that Semi.

Jim McKay who came from Brora on trial about 1978 as centre forward. Only played about 4 games and scored a great goal against the Smellies at Darkheid.

Hibs were not prepared to meet the transfer fee and he returned to Highland League, never to be seen again.

Looked a class act.

Similarly Tom Smith whom I thought was excellent and getting better all the time before an injury forced him to retire at 26. Couldn't have been far a away from an international callup particularly when at one point Craig Brown confirmed Derek Collins was on the fringes of his thoughts. Collins was actually a dependable rightback (would walk into today's team) but Smith playing further forward impressed me more although he could drop back if required.

Smith's last ever SPL appearance was on 16/9/2000 and he had been a regular up until that point (keeping the likes of Lovell and Brebner out the team) in a superb start to the season. Talk about bad timing....

Peter Gucci, yvan Tomatula and Andis Shala. Did Hibs also not nearly sign Haggi?

Alex Marinkov, who signed at the same time as Franck then left at the end of the season to return to France and work in his family's business.

Word on the street was that he was about to be hooked at HT and subsequently had a bust up with TM..........

Anybody confirm this ???:confused::confused:
