Fenlon is also keen to make quick changes to the club's playing staff with several players likely to leave during the January transfer window. And SunSport understands Lithuanian international Mindaugas Kalonas could be his first signing.

The 27-year-old joined Bohs in July 2008 and scored the winning penalty when the Dublin club beat Derry City to claim the league and cup double the following season.

That earned him trials at West Brom and Birmingham and an offer from Red Star Belgrade, which the winger turned down.

And he only left Ireland when Fenlon was told he had to slash the club's wage budget.

Kalonas, now on loan at Russian club Kuban Krasnodar, is desperate to try his luck in British football.

Yes but what is one? I have never heard of such type of player?the lesser spotted winger is a species that frequents the outer perimeter of his habitat and provides nourishment for his near relative, the big striker...both species are seldom seen in the leith area and the last sighting of the lesser spotted was a variety known as the weir / macallister.

:agree::greengring: Good description. It shows how much the game has changed when people don't know what a bloody winger is.

If he's a winger, he'll fit in fine ........ The rest of them have been winging it for years.

An extremely good player, hugely popular at Dalymount during his time here. He scored the winning penalty in the 2008 cup final to complete the double.

Trakys was a strange one. In the Rangers and Motherwell games he gave just about the most complete centre forward performances from a Hibs player for some time. Then vanished.

I agree I was at the Motherwell game he played and thought he was one of the key reasons we won, but he didn't score any and that's probably why he was shown the door, but as you say it was a bit strange...

That doesn't matter. I am guessing that by the time he signs on with us, he will be filling in at right back.

To the tune of the George Harrison "classic"........

We bought Mindau(gas) Kaaaaaaaaalonas,
We bought Mindau(gas) Kaaaaaaaaalonas,
We bought Mindau(gas) Kaaaaaaaaalonas,
We bought Mindau(gas) Kaaaaaaaaalonas,

And he's cost a bit of money,
But not a lot of Petrie's money,
And not a lot of Farmer's money,
'cos we're doing alright now,

It's gonna take time,
A whole lot of George Street time,
It's gonna take George Street time, umm
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it,
To do it like the rest.................

Could someone order my coat, please? Cheers.

If we do sign him, let's hope he is better than the last Lithuanian we had, Trakys anyone:wink:

we have Mindaugas Kalonas,
he has massive Kahoonas,
when he gets the ball,
he'll score a goal,
we have Mindaugas Kalonas...... (that is actually woeful, so I wont be penning any more lyrics)

At Bohs, he had his own song, to the tune of Rupert Holmes 70s ‘classic’ ‘Pina Colada’, very easily adapted for Hibs :flag:

“Do you like Mina Kalonas?/ And Watching Bohs in the Rain?
He’s a full international/ He’s gonna score every game”

The song is here for those who aren't aware of it :na na: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hf8BJVwdnY

Hibs fans are more than capable of coming up with a belter of a song to welcome the new arrival (is he here yet?).

"There's only one M Kalonas"

or something along the lines of the classic penned for Kevin McAllister

"Kevin, Kevin.....Kevin, Kevin"

Irvine Welsh would have been proud of the wordsmith that started that one.

In the 12th man we trust..........

Yes but what is one? I have never heard of such type of player?

Are you being post ironic here, or had you genuinely never heard of a "winger" before?

If it's the latter, oh ye gods!!!

Back to the point, that name sounds like a wind-up and a half, but if he's good enough, I couldn't care less where he comes from.
