Sunderland supporting mate emailed me the same thing a few hours ago. Martin O'Neil is the early favourite

To be fair, he's been favourite for every job that's come up down there since he left his last one!

He had the look of a beaten man on MOTD last night, no surprise that he's gone and I think he was probably expecting it.

In all fairness, he was probably sacked for putting out a team that couldn't score a goal against the current Hibs team!! And they say that th Premiership is miles ahead of the spl..............

He has to go surely.

Sunderland seem to spend a fortune every year on.either mediocre players or good players who seem to turn mediocre when they put on a Sunderland strip yet they never really improve.

With Newcastle going so well its probably put an even bigger pressure on Bruce as the fans won't like that at all.

I've also got little sympathy for Bruce as throughout his managerial career he's shown himself to have the loyalty of a cat.

But obviously not a black one?!

Just had a wee look around, still in the job.

I think it's a formality. Probably being kept quiet due to the Gary speed news.

Your probably right, that was a shocker of a result for them on saturday.

Huge amounts spent over the past 2 seasons and rooted to the bottom 6 in the division again, not good enough so had to go.

Except he hasn't actually gone has he? Not at least as far as I can see from BBC or SAFC club site.

Just a matter of time I thought anyway. Always seemed to want to be a big player in the league with spending daft amounts on players who either didn't cut it or were past their sell-by.

Doesn't really matter who they appoint next - can'tsee it being any different!!

Martin O'Neill will no doubt be made early favourite before being ruled out in a week or 2.

In all fairness , leaving Connor Wickman on the bench and playing Nickilus Bendtnar in front of him , you deserve to be sacked...

He could be making an earlier than scheduled return to the sweetie shop?

(Colin, that is, as I know that could apply to Jimmy in literal terms)

Hughes will end up back at Blackburn IMO.
