Noticed Sturrock has moved up the betting today currently 7/1 with Sky Bet after being around 25/1 last week.

Think he would be a good appointment for Hibs, he had to virtually rebuild the team at Southend and after a mid table finish last season they are top of Div 2 in England and looking good for promotion. Let's face it whoever comes to Hibs is going to have to rebuild this team and IMO we could do a lot worse than Luggy.

Below is info on his current role with Southend from Wiki

Southend United On July 5, 2010 he was confirmed as manager of nPower League 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_League_Two) Southend United (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southend_United). Former Salisbury City (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salisbury_City) manager Tommy Widdrington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Widdrington) was named as Sturrock's assistant manager[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Sturrock#cite_note-7) while one of Sturrock's former players at Plymouth Argyle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plymouth_Argyle) and Sheffield Wednesday (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheffield_Wednesday), who served as captain at the latter, Graham Coughlan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_Coughlan) was soon appointed as a player-coach.[9] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Sturrock#cite_note-8) Sturrock faced the tough task of rebuilding the Southend side with only five first team players available for selection at one stage of pre-season, with only Anthony Grant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Grant), Matt Paterson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Paterson) and Scott Spencer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Spencer) surviving.

Sturrock soon appointed new signing Craig Easton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Easton), who he had previously managed at Swindon Town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swindon_Town), as captain[10] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Sturrock#cite_note-9) while another player from one of Sturrock's old clubs, Chris Barker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Barker), was later appointed as vice-captain, having initially been signed on loan, and then permanently on deadline day.[11] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Sturrock#cite_note-10) It was not an easy task for Sturrock as his assistant, Tommy Widdrington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Widdrington) left for "footballing reasons" on Wednesday 15 December 2010.[12] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Sturrock#cite_note-11).

After a mid table finish in his first season, he has enjoyed more success during the current season, with Southend currently leading League 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_League_Two). Sturrock was named Manager of the Month for September by the Football League. He has been widely praised for his job at Southend United (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southend_United), bringing the best out of players on a very low playing budget and with a minimal coaching team.

Been on about Luggy both this time and last for Gaffer. I tyhink he would be a great appointment and his health isn't as much as an issue as some would have you believe.

He has his teams playing good football,,would we have to pay compensation for him tho???
Reading in paper that any new manager would have to accept the backroom staff currently employed
You'd think that new man would want gis own staff???

My understanding is that the new (any future) manager will fit into the structures around the Clubs youth policy and also the scouting network. It could be that this, particularly the scouting network might be supplemented by that of the manager and his backroom team. Its what Barcelona do.

Jack,,, i read it in sunday post
Seems strange one,, if say, we where after Billy Davies,, would he come to club alone
he has an entourage of say 4-5 coaches,, who follow him from club to club

I like everyone else on this board have jumped from manager to manager in the past couple of months, Terry Butcher, then MON but after seeing the mountain we have to climb I really feel that Paul Sturrock is the man to turn things around.
Let them bring in their own back ground staff as well or at least their assistant to make things more comfortable.

So if you are watching Hibs please choose.

Paul Sturrock.

Sturrock has been my first choice as manager for our last 3 or 4 appointments.

As well as now having Southend top of league 2:

St Johnstone - Promoted to the SPL
Dundee Utd - 3rd until they sold Billy Dodds
Plymouth Argyle - League 1 & 2 Winners
Southampton - His only failure
Sheff Wed - Took over with them 14th in League One - Won the Play Off's that season
Swindon Town - Finished 2nd in League 2 - Promotion
Plymouth Argyle - Took them to 10th in the Championship - Their highest in 20 years
Southend - Currently top of League 2

Get him in asap.

Expereinced, takes no *****, knows the SPL and Scottish Football.

Is there not health issues with Sturrock? I agree he would be good but am not sure he would want or need the pressure that would come with the current job.

I'm being led to believe that the man the board wants to be our new manager is NONE of the names we've been discussing over the last two weeks. No, I don't know who he is either.

Saw his Sheffield Wednesday side on many an occasion. The football on show was on a par with what we're watching now. Awful on the eye.

His Plymouth team however were one of the best I'd seen at Hillsborough.
