I'm thinking of renting a 2 bedroom villa in Carrick Knowe from D.J Alexanders. I have heard a few horror stories about them, anybody know what they are like to rent from? Also I will be renting out the 2nd room as I need someone to share with so if anyone is interested give me a shout!

Have never rented through them but have had other dealings and they were head and shoulders below all the other estate agents I've come into contact with.

Interestingly I was told by the sales director of warners not to waste your money going through them (warners) or any other estate agents and advised to get a private let through something like gumtree.

You are still getting a contract from the landlord as these can be downloaded from the internet and chances of getting your deposit back are high. Also speaking of deposits, the company which I think are called Factonum (?) get reprimanded if they give back clients deposits....you have been warned!

I rent from them and haven't been that impressed with their administration to be honest.

They tried to charge me extra for something which was their fault, effectively lied to cover it up and then claimed it was all a misunderstanding when I called them on it.

I have also written to them on numerous occasions and haven't always received a reply, and they promised to send me a copy of a document I had apparently signed....it has never materialised so I'm assuming it doesn't exist.

Not looking forward to potential deposit issues when I come to move out.

Avoid them. They held onto my partners deposit for 5 months and when it was finally returned they had charged over £100 for a minimal amount of cleaning.

On that point if you are moving out and have cleaned up properly take hunners of photos, literally, to show that everything is clean. Tell them you've done this. Then ask them to photo whatever they say they need to clean.

They are ONLY in business to steal your deposit (AND to rip off their clients.)

As are all letting agents, as warner pretty much confirmed themselves.
