There's a short statement (http://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/news/20111115/club-statement_2262950_2516574) on the official website as well.

Very politely worded. I'd have liked a stronger defence of our fans and club.

Whilst sectarian singing from hibs fans is rare these days -on offensive songs - we are up there - songs about robbo taking it up the jacksy, Paul Hartley, mercer song , skacel -we can hardly take the moral high ground -more should be done to promote more noise , colour and new clean tunes - hail the 12th Man a great initiative-more should join that

I'd like to hear more offensive tache songs:

One man went to shave
went to shave a mowser
one man his manager
went to shave a mowser

One man went to shave
went to shave a mowser
one man and two managers
went to shave a mowser

One man went to shave
went to shave a mowser
one man and three managers
went to shave a mowser

etc etc

That's when we fell for, the leader with the tache -broom! broom!

Some kids said he was never a green
he came from the city of Aberdeen
but in his mouser he looked so cool
had us all singing 'Hibees rule'

etc

C'mon 12th Man - keep up, don't leave it all to Bobby here!

Well done Petrie - McBride is a self promoting glory hunting muppet who should not have been given a platform by Radio Scotland

Well played The Tache. Like him or loathe him, he spoke up for Hibs there - disgraceful thing for McBride to say.

It's called dignity, and will probably be lost on anyone west of Haymarket.

No-one's saying that Hibs fans never sing songs that overstep the mark in terms of taste and decency.

However that's not what this is about.

The club's fans have been specifically accused of singing songs in support of the IRA. Those claims are totally untrue and are complete and utter lies and it's important that everyone connected to the club makes this known to the general public.

Almost but not quite.

We did have several renditions of the "Forever and ever..." song at games last season which obviously contains a reference to "orange b's", which I wasn't too happy about.

Thankfully that is pretty much the only song of that sort of nature that I can honestly say that I've heard from Hibs fans and hopefully we won't be hearing it again any time soon.

:agree: 100% spot on. This clown has told an absolute lie, for whatever reason? He needs to be asked in public just where and when this happened, and lets see just how he squirms when asked?

OK - our wee bobby :flag:

Down at Easter Road, one foggy night
We did behold an eerie sight
Rod Petrie had done a charitable deed
He'd raised some cash for Children in Need

He grew his 'tache
He grew a monster 'tache
The monster 'tache
It was a YouTube smash
He raised some cash
It caught on in a flash
He grew his 'tache
He grew a monster 'tache

Yet from his office, Rod's voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the door and shook his fist
And said, "Paul McBride - your neck I'll twist?"

He grew his 'tache
He grew a monster 'tache
The monster 'tache
It was a YouTube smash
He raised some cash
It caught on in a flash
He grew his 'tache
He grew a monster 'tache

Now everything's cool, Rod's one of the boys
He joined Sect43 to make some noise
He was last seen waving an ultras banner
Singing songs in a fanatical manner

So just for Rod
We'll grow a monster 'tache
A monster 'tache
A real MOVEMBER 'tache
Or wear a fake
If it's too close to the match
A thousand Rod's
All with a monster 'tache

But in a strange way - they are, it's where home is.

My entry for this years Petrievision is as follows:

Celtics in the east end beating up their best friend
The Beebs in denial passing it with a smile
Rod's got a shooter and 70s motor
Watch out here's McGuiness with a hoover
Alba's on the TV, DJS on the PA
All the revolutionaries at ER on a Saturday
You ask for 11 pies and it turns out they only got ten.

Look out Paul don't matter what you call
You'r just a lying lawyer you'd steal from your mother

I personally think the club should take the guy to court, or at least threaten to do so, to elicit a retraction and public apology.

This is a serious slur on the club and its supporters.
