Hope you have a good look at the tackle made by Steven Naismith on the Aberdeen player, a straight red card if i have ever seen one, shocking tackle and when you see the dons player on the sidelines with blood pouring from his leg just shows how bad a tackle it was and could have put the player out long term with injury with a tackle like that.

The video evidence is there, just watched it on Sportscene.

Guilty as charged..although to be fair I don't think we'll see him again this season

It's a bit of a strange situation - even if they were to punish him, it wouldn't actually affect him, so is it worth doing? I bet right now he is wishing it had been given as a red card!

Was he even given a yellow???

It was a shocker of a tackle and certainly worthy of a sending off.

Conveniently brushed over by Craig Levein on tonight's Sportscene, who quickly went on to mention how bad the injury is likely to be for Naismith, showing sympathy for him because he had suffered that type of injury himself. He also didn't seem remotely interested when Rob MacLean asked him about the severity of the injury sustained by Robert Milsom after the challenge by Naismith.

Naismith has obviously picked up a pretty serious injury but the tackle he put in on Milsom earlier in that match was a disgrace and he should be handed a suspension, even if it is largely meaningless due to him being injured for the foreseeable future anyway.

Whilst you are on the Sportscene page you may also want to look at the Hertz v Killie game, not to laugh at the antic's of the yamfuds manager, but the stamp from Skacel on the Killie keeper in the dying minutes of the game. :agree:

Not just a stamp but he also drags his boot over the keepers face. ****.

Agree !
Watched it a couple of times and reckon he was a lucky lad not to get a card for that .
As for Black " A leopard never changes its spots " :greengrin
Re Naismith
Highlights refereeing inconsistancy rather than mistakes ( intentional or otherwise )
Still he has a long layoff one way or the other !!

The injury to Naismith is immaterial.

He should be charged for that tackle, so that it goes on his record.

Rivalled only by Black in the, 'nasty little fud', stakes.

Perhaps football should follow Rugby Union

" In rugby union, a citing commissioner is an independent official, appointed by the competition organizer, the union in which the match is taking place, or the International Rugby Board, who is responsible for citing players who commit foul play which is not detected by the match officials.

Teams may bring offences to the attention of the citing commissioner for review. The citing commissioner may cite a player even if the referee has already dealt with the issue (except where he has ordered a player from the field). When there is no citing commissioner, the teams participating in the match have the right to cite players, but may only cite a player for an infringement which the match officials have not dealt with.

A player who is cited is called to a hearing to show cause why he should not be treated as having been sent off for the alleged offence. The player is entitled to be represented. The hearing usually takes place before three independent persons nominated by the union or the competition organizer, and is generally convened within a week of the match in question. If the offence is proven, the panel issues a penalty, usually in the form of a suspension for a number of weeks."

Worth a thought ? :agree:

This will cause a stooshie in the BBC because although it is clear as day, and nothing less than an assualt, their long term strategy will be to get back up the trouser legs of the new men in charge at Hunbrox

:agree: Consistency is key in this kind of case. The fact he was injured is immaterial.

How do wee contact Mr Lunny.

A ban wouldn't matter because it looks like he'll be out for a while so they should make sure the referee is hammered for this one. How he didn't even think the tackle was worthy of a yellow, I'll never know. He should be fined 2 weeks wages and binned to the 3rd Division for a few weeks.

Ironic though, If he had been sent off at the time then the injury that followed would not have happened. Justice done in the end

Can you imagine the outcry if this had been an Aberdeen player making the tackle on Naismith, he would already have been dealt with and hammered for it, doesn't matter if Naismith is out for the rest of the season, the compliance officer has to be seen to do the right thing and look at the highlights and act's accordingly, 4 match ban sounds about right.

Not so sure I think the tackle caused the injury and all that happened later was recognition of original injury.

Surely it would make sense just to apply the ban after the player comes back from injury?

The fact that he is out injured now is irrelevant.

Little scrout.

I don't think there is any way that this can be enforced.

Any ban would need to apply straight away.

Correct but there's should still be a ban - otherwise the next player banned by video can claim a precedent of no action against the wee Hun bassa.

Why must it be applied straight away though?

Why can't they just say 3-4 match ban after return from injury?
