"No, he's never attended any meetings with me"

Film of best man in attendance at meeting

"He was there because I bumped into him on holiday"

Picture of business card "Adviser to Liam Fox"

"He's not my adviser"

Suggestion that best man has visited Fox at the Foreign Office 22 times in 12 months

Another lying politician?

At risk of sounding a massive homophobe, which I can assure you I most certainly am not, I'm getting pretty serious homosexual affair vibes from this story.

Tory sleaze kicking in again it seems. Surprised its took so long.

Total abuse of power.

Cant see him surviving this.

Was funny as anything when ITV political reporter Tom Bradbury (who's brilliant IMO) asked Cameron if he'd ever taken his best man on a business trip :greengrin

Political sleaze.

Party is irrelevant.

My point was more to do with the last Tory government being ruined by sleaze

I agree they are all the same

Whilst the Major government had its fair share of scandal and bad behaviour, I'm not sure it was 'ruined' by sleaze any more than other governments. Consider Blunkett, Mandelson, Eccleston, a sitting PM being the focus of a criminal investigation, the dodgy dossier and numerous MPs, including ex-Ministers, going to prison for fiddling their expenses.

Fox has to go incidentally. He'd be as well 'coming out' with the truth at the same time. His crime isn't his personal life, his crime is his unbelievably poor judgement and inability to separate his professional and personal life.

Fox should have resigned by now but Cameron has shown week leadership over him and May. Both should have been sacked. Common theme they both lied.

I don’t know which one I find the most depressing: the Home Secretary who thinks that everything printed in the Daily Mail is gospel or the Defence Secretary whose own defence gets ripped apart every time he tries to justify himself.

I listened to some Tory MP this morning on Five Live fail to give any competent answers to the questions put to him. Instead he would rather criticise opposition MPs for turning the situation into political point scoring before then going on to score political points by having yet another go at Labour

Seems pretty clear that this guy is either scopping up business by virtue of his buddy Mr Fox or they are having an affair - Or probably both.

Fox is sorry "the impression of wrongdoing did arise".

I like it. It's a new one.

By the way didn't he have a birthday party recently to which Thatcher came? I'd love to see the video of that one.

This guy's toast. The slowly leaking details and the implied but unwritten 'human interest' story make him a walking political corpse. Still the Lib/Dems will be enjoying it after the David Laws thing. Is Chris Huhne off the driving hook yet? They really do deserve one another.

Next Defence Secretary?

I doubt if it's a gay thing, I always thought he was supposed to be a bit of a ladies' man. I suppose he could be both though.

I can't believe he's still in a job, to be honest. Yet another politician that will be remembered not for what they've done for the public that they're supposed to serve, but for being a lying piece of s*** like so many other ones before him.

Apparently Liam Fox has a new sign on his desk. It reads: "You don't have to be MoD to work here, but it helps."

It's frustrating. However, name me the last politician embroiled in scandal who actually properly resigned. David Laws walked, but it was dressed up as a lifestyle choice rather the fraudulent claim of several grand for rent he never paid. He'll be back though. Apparently his talent outshone his capability for misjudgment. Huhne as well: polis investigation into his wife taking his points for him but he's still there larger than life. Osbourne hangs out with a hooker and snorts a few lines and it just becomes a joke on the party political circuit. Fox might go but it's not a foregone conclusion.

Before that, Blunkett fixing the visa for his filipina nanny was the last time I can remember a minister getting the axe for being corrupt. Corruption is endemic here as it is in some of the countries we often hold up as examples of it.

Allegedly (there you go....) he did. I don't think it worries him. In fact one of the LibDems made some lame reference to Osbourne fluffing his lines or something like that.

I don't really hold it against him personally in the same way. It's sleaze ODS but not the corrupt type. The drugs laws are a farce and if the lady consented and got paid for her services at the rate she deems adequate then I don't see what the problem is. Allegedly.

Nope, AFAIK the CPS are still considering the evidence. I sincerely hope that conniving smug twat gets his comeuppance though.

A ladies man who has younger men sleeping over whilst the wife is away? His behaviour thus far sounds like a stereotypical 'in the closet' politician.
