Car Problem

Afternoon guys and girls.

I have a rover 25 and have a problem with it.I was driving alone the m8 and well a lil orange light came on on the dashboard and it doesn't look good.It sits beside the red battery light on the dashboard and i have no idea why the orange light has come on.
I had the car serviced bout 2weeks ago and except for anti freeze in the coolant,there were no issues.

Has anyone had anything similar? i ve read some articles on the net where it seems this orange light is an engine management light?

I just feel so worried cos it was like £175 for the full service and i was hoping id only need to put petrol in the car and i dont wana be forking out anything more.

The car still go s and stops fine and i dont see any obvious problems,i have checked the water levels and oil and those seem fine.

Any thought/experinces most welcomed

Did the service come with any kind of guarantee? As in, the work done would be guaranteed for a set length of time?

If so, if you're still within the guarantee period, you should be able to take it back to the garage and ask them to check it out free of charge.

I dont recall them saying this is guaranteed im afraid, but surely after 2weeks or so i may have some rights?but then again i only asked them to do a full service and well i do have the reciepts and i have used them 4-5times before so i guess i d be vaguelly firmilar.

The eng man light needs to be checked out asap, hard to say what is wrong but the garage should have a device to plug in which will tell it. could be anythign from electical to pumps to faulty fuses etc. Sounds to coincidental that the lgiht came on after the service so take it back to the same place tell them it came on after you drove away from garage and they should check it free of charge for you. They then might try and come back and say whatever is worng and try charge you but you can decline this.

What garage was it? You may have to take it to a specific dealership as not all will have the eng man equiptment for all cars as the devices cost liek 3 grand for each model maybe even more ( i know it was about 3 grand for the nissan ones as i accidently brought a car lift down on once, they were not happy :greengrin)
