Hi all,
Currently looking at possibly buying a second hand MG ZR 1.4. Just wondered on what opinons people had about this car? I've heard alot of bad things about MG, and after doing a bit of research i've come across mixed opinons on them. Whats everyones opinon on here? Anyone owned 1 in the past?
Cheers

Had an MG Metro van der Plas a few years ago. Bumper fell off driving along the road. Never had an MG since.

Just a rebadged Rover 25, Common problems is the headgasket going. Cost you a right few hundred to put right if it blows, Theres a uprated kit you can get but I would check if its already been changed. For the cash i'd imagine you could get a decent Corsa C or maybe even a Yaris,
Then again if its a Diesel ZR with good history under 80k take it.

The Headgasket already went on this car about 2000 miles ago, but the guys had it all replaced and sorted. How often do Headgaskets blow? Its a good price considering it only has 45k on the clock.

If he has all the paperwork for it then go for it mate ther are reliable cars once the HG is straighted out, Most kits are uprated and do a job far better than the orignal K-Series Head Gaskets. If you look around on gumtree/autotrader etc some of the ZR's have 100k plus mileage. Just make sure the oil is changed reguarly etc and it will serve you well.

I'm on my 3rd ZR, I love them! All cars have problems so don't be put off by the haters who try to make out they are really unreliable!
I had two 1.4s and now have a 1.8 160! Brilliant fun to drive!
Check out www.themgzr.co.uk you have to register but it is worth it!
