View Full Version : Top MPs at risk in Commons cull...

George Osborne, Ken Clarke, Hugh Robertson (Tories); Ed Balls, Hilary Benn, Tessa Jowell, Chuka Umunna (Labour); Chris Huhne, Vince Cable, Tim Farron (Lib Dems) and Caroline Lucas of the Greens....

Sorry if I raised anyone's hopes - they're not actually sending stalkers out to shoot them (though if it's good enough for poor, inoffensive red deer...).

But the above-named (among others) are liable to lose their seats in the Commons if the proposed reduction of numbers from 650 to 600 MPs goes ahead.

I really don't think I'd regret the political disappearance of any of the above.

But of course the vote'll be rigged to keep them around, alas.

Or am I being too cynical?

Oh how sweet if Caroline Lucas is denied her platform for posturing meaningless nonsense. The combination of moral indignation, holier than thou and spectacularly simplistic politics make for truly revolting self-aggrandisement.

:agree: My thoughts exactly.

Agreed.

I quite liked this comment:

"The current legislative regime around faith schools allows religious discrimination on religious grounds in their pupil admissions and employment of teachers, and for them to provide their pupils with a narrow education about the range of beliefs held in society"

Now is it me or is a faith school exactly that...a school based around a certain faith...removing their ability to admit pupils of that faith and have teachers of that faith would turn them into what? Urm a school. Still her campaign is also supported by Polly Toynbee so I suppose that's alright then.

Having a look at her voting record in the commons she seems very presciptive in not giving people choice which would seem strange for a green MP....hmm then again I've never quite worked out what the Greens actually stand for apart from blaming everything on global warming and therefore demanding we never build any more roads ever. :greengrin
