Accroding to the BBC

It's only a rumour but wouldn't surprise me if it's true. He's a very limited player & unlikely to fit with the football concept of a Portugese manager. And no, we don't want him at ER!!

I would take him at ER, definitely - a striker with a good SPL scoring record and a point to prove to the Jambos? Yes please.

Did think it was strange that Sergio hadn't utilised him much, might be some truth in this.

In Daily Mail that he has been told by Sergio that he is not going to play and they tried to offload him before window closed.

I just meant if he was available - they may release him if the rumours are true, hard to try and attract a buyer for a player who was signed for free and the manager so obviously doesn't fancy, they would surely get a nominal fee at best.

Though whether Sutton would accept a pay off over what is sure to be a decent contract is another matter, depends how much he wants to play football.

I appreciate that we are a million steps away from him possibly signing for Hibs IF any of this is true. All I am saying is that I would very much have him here if he became available.

He is IMO a guaranteed 15-20 goals a season SPL player.

If they are not playing him then great.

Any player who finds their career suffering through a move their deserve all that they get. The unpaid salary. The late bonus payments. The selection by fax from Lithuania. Etc etc.

So Barr and Sutton tough luck! Though the latter and not the former would be welcome at ER!

Has he ever actually achieved this - last season perhaps? He got the move to Hearts off the back of one decent season but he has been pretty average at best prior to that and is only in the backwater of Scottish fitba due to being a flop everywhere he went in England.

I was happy we never signed him in the summer and am even more happy that Hertz again paid over the odds for a dud.

106 goals in 248 starts in his career, 106 in 331 appearances overall - impressive either way.

At St.Mirren he scored 25 in 64 in the 1st Division, and with Motherwell in the SPL, 32 in 98.

His record's not actually as impressive as I thought it was but it's still good enough to get a place in our attacking line up at the moment.

1 goal in 7 appearances in England's League Two.
0 goals in 1 appearance in England's League One.

2003-04

13 goals in 20 appearances in Scotland's First Division.
0 goals in 4 appearances in England's Championship.

2004-05

8 goals in 32 appearances in Scotland's Premier League.

2005-06

14 goals in 31 appearances in Scotland's First Division.

2006-07

11 goals in 33 appearances in Scotland's Premier League.

2007-08

6 goals in 45 appearances in England's League Two.

2010-11

10 goals in 35 appearances in Scotland's Premier League.

2 goals in 5 appearances in Scotland's Premier League.

Not hibs class , nish had better stats[not last season granted] and we all no what happened to him [ and he was a hibs fan] looking at our lists of no 9 s of the last 10 years and we really have been spoiled for choice [maybe thats the problem]
But sutton to replace O`connor ? No thanks

He is, no doubt.

But he earns a salary we would get nowhere near matching, so therefore a non starter.

I'm happy for him and Barr to sit in the stand every week and bleed them of over 10k in the process.

Hearts are gagging to offload them.

He hasn't been a 15-20 goal man in his career to date, with possible exception of last year when European & domestic cup runs helped. FWIW Sodje actually has a better goals to starts ratio in SPL. I would class Sutton along with Nish, that's not to knock either I just don't think they would improve our team.

I can't be ersed looking but I'll bet that both sodje and agogo have as good if not better scoring records so I wouldn't necessarily have him in front of them and I certainly wouldn't pick him ahead of o'connor. We also have griffiths just now so hard to see why we would want him.

They would never let a guy who is no doubt on a decent contract leave the PBS for ER on the cheap and why should they.

I suspect that, like us with EDG or Michael Hart, they would be very keen to offload him, and Barr too, but the real question is if Sutton (or Barr) are willing to sit and pick up wages with never having a chance of playing. That said Hearts may have to come up with the (substantial) readies to move him on and whoever picks him up may just get someone with a point to prove.

i see there is a nice little update on Darren's wicki page as to why hearts main stand still has not been built!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darren_Barr#Personal_awards_and_achievements

Scottish Premier League Player of the Month: March 2007[10] Darren Barr is currently rotting away along with the main stand at tynecastle, the player is said to be "delighted" at earning a bumper wage of £6,000 per week for sitting on his "apple tarter" in the asbestos riddled main stand at tynecastle, a close friend of club owner Vladimer Romanov said " Darrens massive wage packet is preventing the club from completeing the 40,000 capacity mega grandstand that Vlad has been promising the "gorgie loyal" for the last 4 years. he also added " we are hoping that Darren leaves the club soon as we are looking to invest in an energy saving lightbulb as a long term solution to our main stands problems"

Sutton will be the latest Palezuelos, like Kyle he will sit on a wage that outside the uglies only the Yams will pay - He won't leave and for whatever reason he won't be played either if all this is true. At some point we will read that he is worth £5m, ala Driver no one will buy him and eventually he will disappear for nowt or will get the odd game. We will be where we are and they will progress as they do while the financial rules allow it.

I'd take him as as striker if we had the cash, we don't or won't pay what he gets now. Sergio won't play him because he has eyebrows, eventually everyone over there will have no eyebrows, all big teams have no eyebrows.

PS - As post 24 brilliantly points out for Palezuelos/Kyle, read Barr.

I would be shocked if Hearts were the only club out side the Old Firm paying at least £2.7K a week (what Sutton is on)....

You got me there, insert whatever £per week you want, not playing, collecting money and difficult to get rid off................ I defer to your knowledge of the precise sum Sutton is paid by an institution where its not that easy to make any sense of any of the numbers.
