I wont be there tomorrow for reasons discussed to death over the last few weeks but this thread is disrespectful in the extreme. Why cant we just let the folk that are behind it and supporting it get on with it? This really is classless.

Totally agree. Could have at least offered a Parker pen instead of a crappy wee pencil.

only on .net could this thread be perceived as an insult to the organisers of the testimonial.

only on .net could this thread be perceived as an insult to the organisers of the testimonial. Not particularly the organiseres but surely to Ian himself. In what way do you think the opposite? I suggest it is an insult and some folk clearly agree. I would think that no matter where it was posted and not just on .net no?.

This is like the yamish jealousy I am expecting to see from our poor neighbours over the other side of the town at the celebrations that are going on down easter road this weekend.

Get a life OP, keep your pencil.

It's just a guess the attendance thread, like there is for every other game. Exactly how is that disrespectful to anybody?

The OP is clearly taking the P*** and devaluing the event. I agree that it should just be left for those that are looking forward to it.

It's not "just a guess the attendance thread as normal" it's a P*** take and this is reflected by the offer of a pencil as a prize.

I can't really get excited about the content of this thread to be honest.

The OP's clearly titled the thread along the lines of what the admins title other threads for "guess the attendance" and instead of winning a month's private membership or a voucher for the Hibs shop, the OP has offered a pencil as a prize.

I think it's been done in quite good humour to be honest and I don't see how Ian Murray would be offended in the slightest by this thread.

Maybe it's just me but it would take a bit more than a thread on an internet forum to get me upset and offended.

PS-4239.

If 15,000 turn up tomorrow, will this thread still be disrespectful? Or is it the prize that makes it disrespectful? I'm struggling to work out how anyone, bar the odd Daily Mail reader, could be upset at what is clearly intended to be a light-hearted thread.

If I ask whether the pies will be hot tomorrow or not (let's be honest, it's usually a lottery at run-of-the-mill league games), is that disrespectful?

The prize Beefster. A deliberately derisory prize presumably for a derisory pishy game? Light hearted? Maybe. Classless. Definately.

Good. Give the guy a break. Despite what you might he's been a good servant for Hibs and has played about 250 games for us compared to about 50 for the huns.

I won't be there tomorrow but I truly hope that there will be a decent attendance to show their appreciation to IM.

I don't really get what testimonials are about as the players earn a few quid in their careers . Although they stop playing they don't stop earning from any other career they choose to follow so i won't be there but all the best to IM.

My Guess is 5215. If Le God had been playing it would have added another 1200 or so in my opinion.

Also, it would have given the club the opportunity to heal the rift with Frank. If there is no rift then can anyone confirm if Frank was even asked?

The prize is probably what the OP is willing to offer and says more about how highly he values someone guessing an attendance than how highly he values the game today.

Is this a serious post? why would they be jealous of a testimonial for someone who has managed to get himself a signing on fee from other clubs before completing his 10 year stint with us?

With respect that is complete bollox. If he feels these comps are worthless why bother in the first place.

Is the OP trying to get out of his responsibility in providing a pencil to the winner?

If not, what was the attendance, who won and when & how ill the prize be delivered?

If I've won, I fully expect my prize to be delivered to me in person either at work, my home address or, preferably, my local here in Munich

It was a retractable pencil.

The OP has retracted his offer.

2,796 according to today's Evening News. So assuming a 50/50 adult / child ratio then you're talking just under £21k on the gate.

To think that some people were slagging off those of us who forecast a low attendance.
