It is really strange to think about, possibly one of the biggest questions around. It is weird to think that most of us won't be around in 100 or so years (or at least I hope someone would put me out of my misery by the time I'm 121 :greengrin) but I genuinely think that people can interpret this question in any way possible. I figure that since I'm alive and I've been born, I might as well just see what happens along the way. Inevitably we all die, I don't think there is a big picture which involves a God or something putting me on Earth for some crazy reason (I'm an atheist by the way so my ideas probably differ from the religious). I'd say that for whatever reason we are here, we are extremely lucky to be here. It's fascinating to think about the creation (beginning of you) & the chances of you being created which are actually pretty slim. Also imagine how life would be really different if you were born a female instead of a male or a male instead of a female? etc etc

To 'figure out' how life in the universe began, to support the Hibs, to change the world you live in for the better...........

The meaning of your life can be anything you want it to be.

There isn't really a universal meaning of life IMO other than to be born, live, die.....

What you do with your life is what counts.

It's a common mistake. To be fair, it's the kind of song that no-one can **** up, it's that good. Steve Earle also does a cracking version of it.

IMO human beings are the only animal or organism arrogant enough to ask this question. Why does there have to be a meaning at all, it is just random collision of particles. It has as much meaning as a monkey typing on a word processor.

But then again, why doesn't there?

It's more arrogant to take an entire universe that we don't even know the origin or extent of and of which we could not create even the most minute particle and say with absolute certainty that there is no "meaning" (purpose/intent) behind it. We take great pride in collecting some of these supposedly random things we find around us and fashioning them into something else, e.g., a nice meal, a house, a wok of art, yet refuse to consider that there may be another creative entity in the universe other than ourselves and consequently pay very little respect to it's work.

For me i've always said there is no meaning of life.

We are here as earth fits the conditions for life to exist and evolve. Nothing more.
