Car Auctions

Looking to buy my first car (just passed my test a few months back) and a couple of people have suggested using the auctions, but I don't know of anybody who has actually bought a car from one. Has anybody on here had experience with car auctions who can give me a wee bit of advice?

Best thing to do is take a mechanic, try and buy a car that has an mot. Ive been to a few and you can get some good deals
