Yip, they have booked George Square for two weeks, there are various other road closures around the centre. There are to be two stunt crashes apparently on the corner of G Sq and already they have changed the road signes traffic lights etc. Yank cop cars, taxis and other motors all parked up and ready for action when they get the place rady and have the right weather.

They could just pinch Sportscene clips of Celtic Park and Ibrox on matchdays.

Cheaper option. :agree:

They'll need more than two weeks.

They'd have to pay extras and spend a fortune on make up for them. In Glasgow they can just roll into the Counting House with a six pack of Special Brew and some Macaroon bars, watch all the punters follow them back out into the square and hey presto, a cast of extras on the cheap :greengrin

If this is the one with Brad Pitt, then they are also filming in Malta. Pitt was there when i was on holiday, filming at the studio there, and part of the film was filmed a minute walk from my auntie and uncle's house. :agree:

Maybe not quite the same but its like the advert for third world aid where the little girl has to walk ten miles a day just to get fresh water.
Thats a real shame but why do they not move closer to the water supply. I just dont get it.

Why on earth would you want to go to Philadelphia for anything other than heroin and crack?

I love the book, and I can't think of any segment set in Philadelphia. Or Malta for that matter. I don't honestly believe that it can be adapted in any form recognisable to the book. Not really surprising considering The Walking Dead has been widely changed from the comic.

Oh dear, it looks like Scotland's second city is showing its usual parochial response to anything that gives them the slightest glimmer of attention from the outside world. They really do get carried away with themselves over the slightest bit of success.

Meanwhile, in the Capital, we have what is genuinely one of the biggest arts festivals in the world, with the likes of John Malkovich handing out flyers on the street. Last night, the national news had a long piece about some movie that is set to be a big success, starring Ann Hathaway and flimed in, er, Edinburgh. Meanwhile BBC Craggy Island chose to focus on the Pitt movie.

The point is, so many movies get made through here, we don't really give it much attention, and the arrival of a Hollywood star in town doesn't really raise an eyebrow. If they show up in Glasgow, the Daily Record are right round with a photographer and a kilt.

Never mind, if the weegies keep mentioning the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games in the same breath, someone might believe they are equally important.

apparently the script calls for a couple of shootings as some car chases....I suppose they can just hang around a few days and get the footage without all that expense of hiring actors :greengrin

That is such a typical CAPITAL response. If Brad Pitt had been in Edinburgh I'm pretty sure there would have been the same level of attention. Bit of a difference between John Malkovich, Ann Hathaway and Brad Pitt. IMO.

Maybe they are setting the Battle of Yonkers in Philly/Glasgow?

You are right, John Malkovich has brought much more to the film industry than Pitt ever will.

That's why we're the Capital - slightly superior. :greengrin

I saw Brad Pitt standing beside the Tron Kirk a few years back, it didn't even make the papers that he was here. Likewise when Christian Slater (lower league admittedly) was living in Leith during the Festival he was given privacy and respect.

I don't know anything about Ann Hathaway tbh, I get the impression that Brad Pitt's star may be slightly on the wane at the moment though. Otherwise why stoop to making a picture in the Weedge? What they don't get is that if something is happening there it is because no one else is interested.

And the Chinese civil war? Pakistan nuking Iran? The Russian decimations? Or the Ukrainians dropping poison gas on their own people to stop the spread of the virus? I don't even see how they can do the story of the insane USAF pilot who crashed in no man's land. That's more or less an entire film in itself.

Good to see everyone in a total panic because something good is happening in Glasgow and not Edinburgh.

Just because they filmed scenes in Malta and Cornwall doesnt mean the scenes are set there, they are filming Philly in Glasgow.

Was Brad Pitt in Seven with Morgan Freeman? I'm not a great film fan but I did see that. Pitt looks like Redford yeah?

I did see Bridesmaids in Dundee last week on a rainy night.

It was garbage.

They are filming today in the abandoned quik save in cardonald, its in the really crappy part with all the high flats, we walked along the other night and were talking to the security guys, and since this morning the car park is full off panalux vans/lorrys and those star trailers the actors go in!

A wedding in Dundee is surely the news story of the year?
