Google maps suggests taking the M8/A77 to Killie (and is the quickest route), the Hibs website says A71.

Which is the best road to take?

I would normally head along the M8 and come off and head towards East Kilbride which cuts out having to go through Glasgow. As both Rangers and Celtic have played today traffic may not be as bad so will probably just go the M8 straight through glasgow. Unless of course this new road the weegies keep battering on about makes any difference to possible routes?

Best and quickest is the motorway however don't take the Glasgow city centre motorway - the new motorway is open and its even quicker turn off for the M73 at coatbridge then stay right on to the M74.

Takes you through the Southside and is far better.

I travelled to Kilmarnock a couple of weeks ago; took the M8 / A77 there and came back via the A71. Motorway was faster, and I had no holdups. A71 has a lot of towns and villages, lots of 30mph zones, single track roads where you can get stuck behind traffic, etc. But I think it's the shorter journey in terms of distance. If I was going tomorrow I'd use the M8.

Interesting - is there now a link between the M74 and M77 / A77? Hamilton turn off on M74, past East Kilbride then onto new motorway to M77. Best way imo.

Supposed to be a good way to Hampden too - well, you never know.

Best road is the road out :greengrin but avoid the A71 for the reasons above. Far too many towns slowing you down.

Debbie Does Dallas - old adult movie (us old timers have never seen it - honest guv!).

As for directions, there's only one road worse than the A71 and that's the A71 at night. AVOID!

There are tons of worse towns in Ayrshire than Killie. Ever been to Drongan?

Which is the best road to take?M8/M77 should take about an hour on a quiet Sunday morning, if you hurry you might even see the sun before it disappears again. Only ever go A71 if other roads are closed.
