Scotland's answer to Joey Barton. Even when he is innocent plenty of people will have him guilty.

No smoke without fire in certain cases :agree: he'll end up in jail at some point. Insufficient evidence hardly means he is innocent just that he has managed to get off with it.

He is innocent until proven guilty though.

He is innocent until proven guilty though. So the girl should be charged with wasting police time then

Ask the police , not me. I don't have a clue what has gone on.

Why, she may have been telling the truth?

AFAIK its not as if she withdrew her allegation.

It is insufficient evidence. I don't think that there is any suggestion that the accuser was lying or wasting police time.

Edit: Just saw that scoopyboy made the same point earlier.

As they are in the vast majority of rape cases largely due to lack of sufficient evidence.

A good result for David FantasticTodger :agree:

one day maybe...

A friend of mine went through the traumatic experience of a trial, which took massive bravery on her part. She was torn to pieces by the defendants solicitor and ended up with a not proven verdict. A very harrowing experience to go through, but she was told very few rape cases have successful outcomes for the claimants. Only he and the girl in question will know the truth, if he did one day it will come back to haunt him. Karma..

No it means they couldnt get enough evidence to prove he did it - maybe just maybe they couldnt get the evidence as it wasnt there? Who knows but as someone else said those accused shouldnt be named until a guilty verdict is announced. He may well have 'gotten away' with it but that wouldnt be his doing. I am sure if the evidence was there no matter what he did he still would have been up before a judge.

Police make the charge and it's up to the fiscal whether they think they can get a conviction or not. Police thought there was but fiscal obviously didnt agree and it could be for anything that would introduce doubt.

Thing is while we all speculate on guilt or innocence but the two people involved KNOW what happened. If they have done wrong they have to live with it.

There were more than two people involved allegedly.

Then that would make a very difficult prosecution well nigh impossible.

He won't be going to the Huns, and she never withdrew her statement.
