I was sitting right behind the home dugout and as O'Hanlon came over he said to CC I've broke my toe. Gutted if he has, thought he looked solid today.

We seemed solid at the rear until he went off, I dont think Stephens is reday for the first team on todays showing, Hopefully he'll be fit for ICT :cgwa

Broken toe was what it looked like to me....not surprised that thats what was heard....:boo hoo: thought the 2 H's looked the first real partnership we have had in ages..winning the ball and keeping a nice tight organised line...

Stephens in fine as sub cover but if a few weeks without Hanlon is the story we will lose goals

Can't do much to help heal a broken toe, you just have to get on with it. He might not be able to train too much but it shouldn't keep him out for too long I don't think if this is what it is.

I broke both big toes years ago when I played rugby at school. It felt uncomfy but continued to play and did not find out that I had done it until the school nurse spotted it. Sean we need you, just grit your teeth and get on with it.

How'd he play today?

Thought he had a decent game , no nonesense , did what you want from centre half , win tackles , headers and clear your lines. Could be the experienced defender we need to help the youngsters. Disappointing if he is out for a few games.

Thats good news - I suppose. Its sore, there will be bruising and swelling but it shouldn't keep him out.
In fact I'm suprised he went off if thats all it is TBH.

Exactly, it will come down to pain threshold, I really hope this guy is not one that limps out, falls over, misses games every other week unless he feels 120% as he looked decent enough in the first half.

You wouldnt have been the goalkicker or fly half though?

A job that might involve KICKING the ball. If you were a broken toe might intrude a tad on your ability to fulfil those duties.

I don't know. Is a broken toe not the same as a broken metatarsal :dunno: ? If that's the case he could be out for a while. Check out these recovery times, not good.

Michael Owen (2006): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 17 weeks later
Wayne Rooney (2004): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 8 weeks returned 14 weeks later
David Beckham (2002): Second metatarsal - predicted 6 weeks returned 7 weeks later
Gary Neville (2002): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 21 weeks later
Ashley Cole (2005): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 12 weeks later
Scott Parker (2004): Second metatarsal - predicted 8 weeks returned 34 weeks later
Danny Murphy (2002): Second metatarsal - predicted 6 weeks returned 21 weeks later
Steven Gerrard (2004): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 10 weeks later

rest and a couple of Ibuprofen should do the trick.

Metatarsals are the bones behind the toes IIRC. Metatarsal breaks are more a broken foot rather than a toe. Pretty sure they could be put in a cast as opposed to a bust toe which at best could probably be taped.

I broke a toe playing on an ash park and its bloody sore, but i was daft enough to play the next again week and ended up making it worse. Could be a good couple of games missed now for O'hanlon

A broken toe can be serious, after all it stopped David Haye becoming the undisputed heavyweight champ...;-)

I've broke my big toe on my right foot twice, it's extremely painful...
Could be out for a couple of weeks, IMO.

Physio should not allow him to play for next couple of weeks

Which toe has he broken? A wee local anaesthetic might do the trick for next week at ICT then he can have the week after off.

Depends on the site and nature of the fracture, displaced or affecting the joint would not be good.

Will be buddy taped to the toe next to it but no doubt about it playing football not exactly ideal rehab for any toe fracture.

Not good news as i liked the look of the boy, seemed to communicate and organise well.

Bad news. Although Stephens looked good when he came on and will be a decent replacement for ICT game. Centre back is one area where we're reasonably solid, IMO.

Six weeks to mend if the toe is broken but if things are desperate then he could play with the toe strapped up and the help of a couple of pain killing injections.

Not good news I'm afraid but entirely in keeping with the season so far.

So putting speculation aside - what's the actual injury and prognosis?

Hibs are waiting on the result of a scan. He isnt in Blackpool and CC thinks he wont make Saturday. Hopefully that is all it is a couple of weeks maximum.
