Got this from Hibees-mad, who got it from the bounce.

Someone obviously e-mailed their concerns to Fife Hyland and this is a shortened version of the respose.

Mr Hyland, one of the club directors has just been good enough to take the time to telephone me back and discuss the current situation, and the fears of the fans.

Mr Hyland rejected my views that the club are unambitious.

Mr Hyland rejected my view that the signings CC made were panic/last minute/hastily arranged signings. I did agree that in Pallson and Thornhill we may have good players there.

My Hyland rejected my views that the recent signings are not good enough to improve our league position this coming season. He seemed to be offended that I mentioned that GOC has personal problems, isn't match fit, and is injury prone.

Mr Hyland also disagreed that Agogo, at 31, isn't quite an attraction that will appease the fans.

Mr Hyland also disagrees that the manager was slow to commit his future (publicly) to Hibernian FC, and could only repeat that he (last week) has verbally committed himself to the club. Not good enough in my opinion. Too much too late.

I told Mr Hyland that the fans have just about had enough, and if early season results/signings did not make things seem rosier then he could be faced with demonstrations.

Mr Hyland seemed to take this as a personal insult (tough, eh) and asked if I was threatening him with demonstrations, to which I remarked that it was just my opinion, and not a threat. How churlish!

Mr Hyland gave me his personal assurances that Cillian Sheridan, and his agents, have given the club the run around, and told me that the fact the player has signed for St Johnstone on a 6 month loan deal should speak volumes. Well it doesn't speak volumes, in fact it doesn't really tell me anything other than Hibs couldn't match what he wanted for 6 months, and St Johnstone could.

Mr Hyland has also given me assurances that the manager has a list of potential signing targets he would rather focus on, other than Sheridan.

I agreed to disagree with Mr Hyland and we arranged for me to give him a call at the end of the season to discuss where we are then.

Mr Hyland also said that if the fans demonstrate outside ER, then he will be prepared to come out and meet with us and discuss things rationally.

I got the impression that THEY know we've had enough.

I can imagine them working away beaverishly ( I would like to think) to make new signings, but Mr Hyland also reminded me that we have another 5 weeks of the transfer window to go.

I reminded him that the season starts THIS WEEK, and that the club have had since MAY, and earlier, to be thinking about the coming season, and new players.

I think the concerns raised are fair. I can see why the club could be slightly offended but it is about time some questions were asked of the board.

Dear Steven

Thanks for your email. Whilst the Sheridan situation has been disappointing for supporters, the Manager has preferred targets and moved on to them earlier this week.

Colin Calderwood is working hard to secure new talent for the team, and continue to be backed with every available financial resource the Club has as he does that.

Thanks for your support and again for writing in. Your feedback is welcomed.

It might not be what you all want to hear but credit must be given to Fife Hyland in dealing with people directly and attempting to answer the critics of the club with reasoned discussion and responses :agree:

often the board are vilified for not giving any consideration to the fans and sitting in their ivory towers looking down on us (spitting on us, some would have us believe) and for the lack of communication from within the club but regardless of poor things have been the club have been a lot more open in the past 6 months or so than they have been for many years

One point that has to be challenged is the utter pish that there's 5 weeks of the window left. Do I care? The season starts tomorrow. Wake up.

Rewind a few years before the windows were introduced and signings could be made at any time. If we were going into a season as disgustingly ill-equipped as we are now, would we have accepted "well we'll maybe sign someone later on" as as excuse from the board? Would we removed

It doesn't even make sense, we need players now. What good is it telling me there's a while left until it's impossible to get them? Clowns.

I have respect for Hyland in the fact that he actually talks to fans that email him but i was in Maribor and complained to him that the players didnt come and clap the fans after the 3-0 defeat, which he denied, which sickened me after me and many others put in so much to go support their club.

Fife just argues black against white....He says he and Board hate being cited for a lack of ambition, tell you what Fife, why don't you and the rest of the Board pull your fingers from your bumholes and start showing us your level of ambition then:confused:

Very possibly the funniest thing that I've ever read on here!

As for Hyland, good on him for engaging individual fans like that. His responses are slightly worrying but very revealing, if they indicate the overall thinking at the club.

I read some of the thread on the bounce and the OP and a few others seem to have taken the huff because Fyfe didn't agree with anything he said.
Come on do people actually believe the Hibs board are going out of their way to have us as relegation candidates.

Maybe not deliberately but their incompetance and total lack of ambition is making us exactly that IMO. Not good enough!

The person who made the call has been posting some pretty ferocious stuff about the board recently. We weren't going to get a balanced account of the conversation.

My usual gripe... the board should be communicating with us better.
